All the stars align
And you are by my side
You are by my side"

Chapter 3: Summer

*Liam's POV*

I hustle down the stairs with Zayn closely behind. We both awkwardly sit at the table and act like nothing happened. Zayn sits across from me and I sit next to my mum.

"So where are you guys from?" My mum asks trying to keep the silence to a minimum and Zayn's dad looks up first.

"We are from Bradford in West Yorkshire." Zayn's dad smiles whilst picking at the food to take another bite.

I don't focus on the conversation, I just focus on Zayn—well—what Zayn said to me. I had to make an effort to forget about Madison and regain my friends trust back. It clearly wasn't going to be easy for me.

I always have these random outbursts of anger and sadness and I've recently had to take sleeping pills to sleep at night.

Zayn looks at me through the silence in the room, but as I was about to speak, they started talking again, so I just decided to speak anyways.

"Why did you move to this town?" I asked kind of interrupting. All eyes turned to Zayn and he looked at me and breathed.

"Clearly it was because of me." Zayn laughs. "J-Just some people that's all."I watch Zayn's emotions and in a matter of seconds he was anxious, I could tell. His parents kept dragging on the subject and he looked very uncomfortable.

I cheekily kick Zayn's foot under the table just so he could snap out of it, he helped me at that moment, so it's my time to help him a little bit.

Alerted, Zayn looked at me and smirked. He waited a few seconds and kicked me back. I laughed and looked on my plate.

"Liam, where do you want to go to college?" Zayn's mum asked me. I think for about two or three seconds and respond.

"I haven't really thought about it, probably somewhere where they give good football scholarships. Academic wise, I don't know." I say blinking and looking around stopping at my mother's face.

Her face was filled with disappointment, I could tell. She was upset because I wasn't the perfect child for her, my brother was, well is. My brother and my father live in California because of the divorce, Jacob studies law, of course, and is making a bunch of money at his internship.

My mum always reminds me how my grades will somehow affect my future. I always got C's and D's, I never failed, I was just average to below I guess. Football was my only hope really, if I can't get this then what is worth living for?

"Zayn has the same problem, except he isn't really into the sporty things." Zayn's mum says whilst smiling in his direction.

My mum is still staring at me at this point and I begin to feel really uncomfortable. Then finally she moves and says aloud:

"Is everyone done? I'll gladly take your plates." She smiled and everyone nodded and passed their plates gently to her. She glares at me as she walks into the kitchen and Zayn's parents follow her to help with the dishes.

I couldn't be in this house anymore because my mother is going to lecture me on how shitty I am compared to Jacob. So I look at Zayn and say aloud.

"Zayn let's go." I say walking towards the door. He obeys and follows after me.

We walk down the block in silence and I feel angry again, I hate having these random outbursts of anger for no apparent reason.
