Entering Principal Griffin's office, I hesitated at the door. "Surely I haven't done anything, have I?" The girl before me was pretty. She wasn't a plain Jane like me. Black locks which were in fat ringlets and light green eyes. And did I mention she was pretty? No, she wasn't pretty. She was gorgeous. I instantly envied her. "Miss Roberts, I would like to ask a favor from you." I simply nodded my head as Mr Griffin looked at me expectantly. "I would like you to show Miss Brooke around. She is the new transfer student." Why me? I asked myself. I didn't need someone else to be hated upon on my account. Nevertheless I accepted. It would do good on my records anyway. After we were through with the principal, I nodded for her to tug along. We walked along the quiet hallways, our shoes echoing. Well, mine just squeaked against the tile floor. They were worn out sneakers which I loved. I had little to no fashion sense or so you could say. "Look" I said stopping at a corner to face her. "I am honestly glad to meet you and would love to show you around but it would totally kill your social connections in this school. Why don't I just show you to your first class of the day? Let me see your schedule." "My name is Corrine. And you are? "she asked handing me her schedule." I am so sorry. Jeez where are my manners. I am Norah. Seems you have English right now, Mrs Maxwell's class. Come on I'll show you. She isn't that bad just as long as you do her assignments and hand them in on time. Well here we are. It was nice meeting you Corrine. "I said stopping in front of her class. I headed off to mine hoping the teacher wouldn't be in. Hey, at least I got a late slip today. I leaned against the door just wishing for school to be over already. Unexpectedly, the door opened and me being the total klutz that I am fell face planted on the cold floor. I heard laughter all around me but I was used to it already. They just didn't talk in my hearing range cause they were afraid of me. The teacher pretended not to notice me and continued with the lesson. All too soon, the day was over. Finally! I felt like doing a small victory dance but refrained from it as it would be very awkward and I didn't exactly want to be posted on social media. I usually walked home. It took my mind off things and I just loved the silence. The short walk ended too soon as I opened the house. I instantly knew I was home alone as always. My parents were never home. They were either attending one business meeting or the other but I didn't mind. Being lawyers, they knew how to interrogate and I didn't want the classic question asked by all parents about school because we all know it was shitty. As always. End of story. I locked the door and not bothering to change, fell fast asleep on my bed.
