[Cai's POV:]
This is weird. The image of Bryce ran through my head. Him just...laying there. So hopeless. I glanced at Tyler, who was especially silent. He was between me and Finny. We needed to find the others, and fast. Let's hope for the best.. that they are still alive. I think Tyler saw how much I was holding back panic. I don't blame him I can see it in his eyes, too. Jesus christ these hallways were long. I started to be more aware of my surroundings, as if I wasn't already. Ugh, this was all insane. Is this some cruel joke? Did Morgan plan this? That bitch is always into shit like this. Me and her weren't the best of friends, but she was alright. She can be annoying sometimes. But besides small arguments, we were surely friends. Is anyone else dead? How long is this gonna go on? God I had so many questions. The crimson red streak in my hair swooped down onto my face. I moved it out of the way. I started to realize the blood on Tyler. He obviously didn't notice. I didn't want to say anything. He was already annoyed at me as it was. The last thing I could do is make it worse.
"Hey Cai." Mason said, looking at me. I forgot he was beside me. I looked back at him. His eyes were more of a dark-ish lime. "You alright? You seem a bit uneasy...." He said as his soft british accent intertwined with his words. "Who the hell is calm here?" I finally had to say it. "None of us want to be in this damn hell hole but we're-" I stopped. "Shh. Calm down, Cai." Finny asked nicely. I could tell in the sound of her voice she was scared. I sighed. We walked down a couple floors. We walked into a random room absentmindedly all of a sudden. When we looked up to see what was in the room, we saw everyone else. Marshall screamed, then everyone else woke up. Jaimie woke up to rough movement since she fell asleep on Marshall's shoulder. We all screamed, and then stopped. "Guys! Calm your shit.. Britt's gonna hear us." Morgan said as she rubbed her neck. "Or sense us. She probably already knows we're here." Kate said. She turned on her heels to look at us. "Where's Bryce?" She asked. Me, Finny, Tyler, and Mason all exchanged looks. Kate then realized the blood on all of us too. "So. You ran into her too." She said sternly, clearing her throat. "Bryce is dead." I spat out. God dammit. I can be such an insensitive swine sometimes.
[Mason's POV:]
I looked at Cai. "Cai!" I said as if he should be ashamed. He looked at me. "Sorry. But he is." Then we all started to exchange looks. "What happened to him?" Gene asked in curiousity. "Well," I said as I took a few steps further into the room looking at everyone. "Me, Finny, Cai, and Tyler were walking down some blimey hallway, and as soon as we made a turn, Bryce tried to suggest something. But he was cut off by a knife going through him cleanly." I feel like a said that a little forward. Jaimie looked down at her hands, playing with the charm on her bracelet. Poor thing. All the girl wanted was a nice birthday. Everything to be calm. But it was the exact opposite. I ran my fingers through my cinnamon colored hair upward. "We ran into him too." Said Kate. They had some blood stains, but there were more cuts than that. "Marshall and Jaimie are the only one's who didn't run into her." She said. Kate was obviously worried for the two. Something just felt suspicious. Britt was up to something. And next time, her encounters are going to be worse. I can sense it.
[Gene's POV:]
Oh my god, Bryce was dead. He was young but the kid died scared and lonely. We probably will too if we don't do anything. But what is there to do? What if we find Mary and it was too late? All these questions. At least we all were here together. I looked over at Jaimie. She was playing with the bracelet I gave her. Everyone was thinking. "Finny, your cuts." Kate said, sitting her on the floor as she took out some medical supplies from a backpack. "Where'd you get that?" Tyler asked. Nobody had anything with them when we came here. "It's a gift from Britt. It was in front of the door when we all took rest." She explained. "That feels suspicious...in some kind of way." Mason added. "She seems highly against cheating. I guess she's trying her best to play fair? I mean.. she did say this was a game." Ruben theorized. He was probably right. I sighed silently. "We should all get rest. Including you, Tyler." Cai glanced. Tyler raised his head at him. "I'm looking at his wounds now.. what exactly happened?" Kate questioned, looking at Mason, Cai, and Finny.
Finny tried to smile a bit at the thought. "He saved me, and Cai. Mason pulled us away from her after Bryce was stabbed.. Tyler and Britt started to fight, and next thing you know he flew backwards knocking a door down." Finny explained calmly. Her voice was quiet and kind. Kate only questioned this because I knew that she was always interested in being a doctor, or a nurse of some sort. She liked to help people. I sat back onto the couch. "Ruben's right. We all need to rest up." I found some courage to take some lead in this. This wasn't necessarily like me, but it was for my friends. We all nodded. "I'll stay on guard." Marshall volunteered. And then, the rest of us slowly took rest.
[Jaimie's POV:]
I awoke slowly. It was obvious everyone was still asleep. I rubbed the back of my neck. I looked up at Marshall. He smiled at me. "Morning." He said. I looked out the window. It was day. Everything seemed so much brighter. I crawled one of the beds. "Where is everyone?" I asked, only noticing we were the only two in the room. "Exploring. I'm assuming Britt is giving us a break today." Marshall said as he put one of the supply packs onto a chair. "In that case, i'm going to explore." I smiled. "Wait, Jaimie." Marshy said as I was headed for the door. I turned to look at him. "Stay safe." He said calmly. I looked at him for a moment, then smiled. "You too, Marshy." I said as I walked out. The place was much brighter during the day. It looked more beautiful. You could see clearly down the hallways. I began to walk, and noticed more of the paintings on the walls in the hallway. I turned to look at one. It was a picture of a girl, with curly, platinum blonde hair. 'Our Sweet Daughter~' The bottom read. It was obviously Britt. But she looked so young in this picture. That made me start to wonder how young she was when she died..
I began to walk again. We were on the first floor. I walked down stairs, standing on a carpet, and a chandelier above me. This is where we started this weird game. "So." I heard. It was a voice. I turned around, to look up at the balcony. Britt was there. My heart sank, and I flinched backwards. "Oh relax. I'm not gonna kill you. Since I gave all of you a break today, that would be cheating." She explained to me. She teleported next to me. "It's no fair if the players don't know who the seeker is as well. That's also cheating." Britt looked at me. "Was that you in the picture?" I'm assuming for now I would have to go by her word. Which was risky. She nodded. "Yes. It is." She said rather calm. "I was pretty young at the time. My parents spoiled me as if it was their job. They told me not to experiment with magic. But I obviously didn't listen. What I saw...and what I felt..changed me, killed me." She told. I listened. We both were sitting down on the carpet. I sort of felt bad for her. It was as if she didn't want this. But it had to be like this. "Listen here, Winters." She said as we both stood up. "I'm not the one running this game. Alright? There's someone else." She smirked. Her soft side was going away. I felt terrified. Anxiety impacted me as if I hit a brick wall. "She's watching our every move." She exclaimed. This petrified me. "Who's "she"..?" I asked. Britt looked at me. "If you ever so meet her, run." Her smirk darkened. Oh shit. Her nice side was gone. "And your an important part." She glanced. My eyes were covered in fear. "W-what does that mean..?" I stuttered. She just looked at me. "We'll talk about it in a couple of days. See you then, Jaimie Winters." Britt disappeared. I fell to my knees. My hands over my eyes. What the fuck did she mean? Who was this she person? What was going to happen to me or my friends? Nobody else can die...........I must protect them.. I promise I will.
If it's the last thing I do.
