It started out like any other day. The breeze swept each leaf off the ground and into a swirling flurry down the sidewalk. The air was slightly moist but nothing to go berserk over. Florida was notorious for its humid and hot days during late April so it wasn't anything new. The only thing new this week was more drama, secrets, and text messages from my best friend Kate about the latest scoop.
Kate is my best friend and I couldn't go through life without her. She kept me stable during rocky times and I would need her more than ever this week. Oh, and if I haven't mentioned it yet, this weekend was the notorious Playlist Live. A convention where people inside a screen get to hid their on screen personas and meet the people on the other side.
Kate and I had been planning our every move for months. Exactly where to stand, eat, and hangout to try and meet some of our favorite creators. Yes, we use the term creators instead of youtuber's because it makes our hobby sound less creepy to those who don't enjoy what we do.
Today was April 21st, Thursday, the day before hundreds of fans walked around praying to get a picture or quick glimpse of their idol. My stomach was filled to the brim with butterflies and every second not spent scrolling through my twitter timeline following someone's every move was one second wasted. The car ride there was hell. I drove my sister in my two-door mini cooper that barely fit both of us and was packed, just like my stomach, to the top with luggage.
"Kate we are pulling into the parking lot!" I said with excitement hanging on from my every single word.
"Ok! Once you get inside I'll be by registration." Kate said with a reassuring and playful tone.
"Ok talk to you then." I said racing around every corner of the parking lot trying to find any spot I could weasel my way into. Thankfully I found a big enough spot that was conveniently placed next to the walk way to go towards the enormous hotel.
After walking for what seemed like hours we were able to make it to the eloquent front desk. Seeing hundreds of fan girls and hearing a variety of screams all in one place would be over whelming for someone new to this lifestyle, but after being in the community for almost 3 years, I felt like a seasoned professional. We got our room and quickly settled in our stuff
KATE: WHERE ARE YOU
CHRISTINA: HEADING OVER NOW
KATE: HURRY YOU MIGHT MISS SOMEONE
I quickly grabbed my black "mom" purse and headed over to the registration area. If you have ever been to the Marriot World Center you would understand my struggle of walking from the height of Everest to the deepest point in the sea. That this hotel is probably the length of 20 foot ball fields.
After finally finding Kate and getting my registration, it was time to people watch.
Hours pass and so do lots of creators, some relevant and others, very irrelevant. I had somehow taken a great interest in their passes that seemed to get them into every place possible.
"Kate I have an idea." I said mischievously planning every single step inside my head.
"Ok what is it?" Kate said responding to my devious yet vague statement.
"Let's just say it involves paper, card board, and some cute clothes." I said as we both simultaneously wink t each other.
