"I know it sounds a little crazy but I think it will totally work out." I say franticly trying to find my room key in the jumbled mess I call my bag. It was filled with all of the necessities: snacks, portable chargers, water, gum, sunglasses, deodorant, and other miscellaneous items that were thrown in over the course of a day.
"You're kidding right?" Kate said half laughing, half serious. "I mean imagine the security in here! We could get thrown out!"
"Yeah but we won't, If we play the part we get unlimited access." I say fiddling with the key and finally unlocking my hotel room door. "I can photo-shop it to say our name and you can print it, deal."
Kate stood there with her hands on her hips in the most "mom" stance ever, but after seconds of thinking over she finally complied with my deal. "Why not."
Saturday morning. The first day of Playlist Live. The ever so anticipated day by many, but for me, it was the day to come out of my shell and do something that could literally get me kicked out.
My room wasn't a gigantic mess but it looked like someone dropped a tiny tornado inside my room. The bathroom on the other hand was a complete mess. My whole makeup collection sat, sprawled out on the counter. After my shower I got dressed and proceeded to take an hour, maybe an hour and a half, to do my makeup. I had to look sultry yet not slutty, naive but not dumb, and most importantly older.Kate and I had met up with both of our fake passes and we were ready to take on anything. We had decided that I would do all of the talking since I considered myself to pretty persuasive in times of need.
We proceed to enter on the first floor since the second was way too heavily guarded with security. We walked down the lighted hallway to pass bunches of fans sitting, waiting for someone to walk out. Many of them saw our passes and exchanged quick glances with their friends. It was actually very exhilarating, but we prayed we wouldn't get caught.
We walked over to the elevators to be greeted by a lady sitting, checking for passes. Our first test. We walked by and flashes out passes and made it through. Now what we thought."Yeah so we'll meet her on the 5th floor ok" I said giving Kate a quick wink and with a click of a button we were alone discussing our planes. " I saw we take the golf carts over and get into the green room, everyone is going to be there."
"Ok let's do this" Kate said clicking the elevator button and confidently walking around security and over towards the golf carts, then the green room.
We walked right past the lady and flashed our passes and we were in. The one event that had seemed so heavily guarded was just a scam. We had just gotten in with paper glued on cardboard.
We walking into a large ballroom that was dimly lit but still had a variety of lights in certain areas. There was a long table with snacks and drinks galore that was spotted with creators and their children.
"What now?" Kate said excitedly walking over to the food table to grab some snacks.
"Now we wait and people watch." I said scanning the room for possible fuck boys or nice guys. We stood near a table and rested our bags on them. My heart beats had slowly calmed down but the fact that we could get ratted out at any moment still keep me on my guard.
After almost 20 minutes of waiting, standing alone, and watching other, smaller, creators walk around/near us, we needed some action. Just as we thought about walking around or leaving, Joey, Ryan, Josh, Jonah, Adam, Nick, Nolan, and Chomik from Settle Down Kids flamboyantly walked in. Kate and I immediately turned to each other and knew that this would be some good entertainment. They proceeded to walk right past our table, to head to the ever so tempting food and drink table. I was relaxed until I glanced up to see Joey staring at me whilst walking to meet his friends. The scene played out in slow motion and my heart started pounding more and more with the growing tension. Was there something on my face? Or maybe we stuck out like sore thumbs? Every single possibility played through my mind. Was he looking at me? Probably something behind me, or maybe on the table, or maybe I'm just so ugly he couldn't help but stare.
All of my assumptions were thrown in the trash when as he passed me and winked.
