JAMES POV

James and Sirius walked down the corridors together, taking their time mind you they had just won the first Quidditch game of the season. The rest of the team was already at the common room, Celebrating sure enough.

"And you said I was gonna jinx it" reminded Sirius.

"Well buying the celebratory liquor before the game even happens is a risky move," James defended. He had spent perhaps twenty minutes before the game trying to reverse the bad luck Sirius was bound to bring. He wasn't much educated in the art of superstition but he tried what he could, knocking on every wooden surface in sight and what not.

"Like I said before, mate, if we had lost it could have changed from celebration liquor to consolation liquor. Whatever the out come was, alcohol is always a must. Plus how would I have gotten it all the way from Hogsmade and back before people lost the mood to party?"

They were finally approaching the painting guarding the Griffindor common room as James responded.

"Since when does anyone in this school lose the mood to party?"

His point was confirmed as they entered the portrait hole and found themselves in a mess of mead and music. The common room erupted into congratulatory applause and shouting. The boys lifted their hands in a sort of "yes you're welcome civilians for winning the game, saving the day, and providing mead for this fantastic party" motion.

James' eyes scanned the room looking for the amber hair and green eyes he always looked for when entering a room. There among the other sixth years was Lily Evans, with a glass of mead and glazed over eyes, laughing and joking with her friends. She was sprawled out on top of Marlene and was laughing at something Peter said so hard her hair flipped and smacked her friend in the face. The boys made their way over.

"I can take her off your hands Marlene," James said as he slid into his favorite cushy chair. He looked at Lily waiting for a snarky response or a melodramatic pseudo gag. Lily did neither of these things as she ignored him altogether looking all around the room as if she were caught doing something wrong.

"In your dreams Potter," sighed Sirius as he flung himself onto the couch also occupied by Lily and Marlene. He rested his head of the arm of the couch and propped his feet on top of Lily who was still on top of Marlene.

"Get your nasty feet off of me!" screeched both girls simultaneously.

"No can do my ladies," Sirius said closing his eyes. Both girls then pushed him as hard as possible causing him to land unexpectedly o the ground with a thunk. They laughed and Lily took a rather large sip of her drink.

"Geez Lil, thirsty much?" Questioned Remus.

"It is a party isn't it love?" responded Lily with another sip, this one followed by a sour face as it went down her throat.

"Who ever made the rule that you must be sloppy drunk to enjoy a party?"  Complained Alice, sitting on Franks lap as he twirled a piece of her hair in his fingers.

"The party gods." James said in complete seriousness.

peter let out a groan and Remus complained "here we go again."

"And who exactly are the party gods?" prompted Marlene.

"take it away Sirius." allowed James.

"I'm glad you asked." Sirius began as Peter and Remus began to lay on top of one another in a mock slumber, while Lily and Marlene sat upright at the edge of the couch, their eyes wide in curiosity. James sipped at Peter's drink and watched the mannerisms of Lily Evans as Sirius spoke.
