Moving in with my best friend is the BEST thing ever. First I got tired of Detroit. It was cold as sh*t up there. Second, I can't stand my abusive stepdad and my mom is scared to tell the police. Cause he threaten her saying that if she told the police he would kill her.

My mom is Puerto Rican and my biogical Dad is African American. I was only 5 when I saw my Dad leave me and my mom hopeless. I always thought he would come back. But he never did. But if I see him again, I'm going to show him that I'm on my own. I'm not those type of girls who gets pregnant at 16, drop out of high school, then get a job at McDonalds. Not going to happen.

Jas and I arrived to our apartment. I put my hair up into a ponytail. It was hot as h*ll in Cali. I thought I bout died. Its not like Detroit when its cold and glumly outside. I went to the U-Haul truck and got my boxes. As soon as I walk into the apartment building, there was a lady behind desk. But I didn't care about her. I loved what I see. I walked into a gray and white lobby. Under my black and white Nike Huaraches, was a shiny white floor. "Hi. Who are you?". The lady asked. "I'm new to the residents. I'm Ashley Rivera and my roommate is Jasmine Johnson. She should coming in a min." "Oh well my name is Jennifer Holston. My Dad owns this place. And now I'm taking over it".

I nodded my head and asked for the key to the apartment. I asked just in time cause here comes Jas busting in here with 2 or 3 boxes in her arms. She fell on the floor with boxes. I was laughing so hard, that my box dropped out of my arms. All I saw was her Nike sandals, and her two brown braids. She kicked me in the calf "Shut up Ashley" She rolls her eyes and try to grab the key off the desk. I finally got up and picked the boxes up. And follow her up the stairs into meeting the door of our apartment.
