Chapter 2

Even if the stars and moon collide

I never want you back into my life

You can take your words and all your lies

Oh, oh, oh

I really don’t care

Beth sang the tune into her hairbrush, at the top of her lungs. Add in finger-pointing, a little hip shakes here and there and some hair-flipping and she was giving the best goddamn performance her mirror has ever seen.

“Elisabeth Cotter! I did not move halfway across the world with you to be woken up by your insanely loud singing at 11 in the morning on a Saturday! Shut up!” Maria screamed, as she pounded on her adjacent wall from Beth’s.

“Sorry!” Beth apologized, but she couldn’t keep the smile off her face. She was in a good mood today. Mostly, because Harry had called her up an hour ago begging her to go grocery-shopping with him because none of other lads wanted to go. Her heart fluttered as she teased him about not wanting to leave her bed before she agreed to head to the shops with him.

She set the hairbrush on her dresser and studied her appearance in the mirror. Her hair was long; it fell just below her waistline, dark and pin-straight. She wore black shorts and a tucked in white t-shirt. Paired with her light grey Toms and she was cute, casual and ready to go.

To please her dear friend, she hummed the rest of the song as she made exited her room. Jessica and Ashley sat on the sofa together, laughing as a random movie played in the background.

“You going out?” Ashley asked, noticing Beth’s appearance.

“Yeah, Harry asked me to go shopping with him.” Beth answered, reaching for the bowl of chips on the coffee table. “He should be here soon.”

“Harry eh?” Jessica smirked.

“Yes. Harry. And before you tease me, none of the boys wanted to go and they need food for their apartment. We all know how useless Harry is at buying food. If I let him go alone, the boys would live off pizza and donuts for the rest of their lives.” Beth explained, the smirk never left Jessica’s face though.

“Alright, whatever you say.” Ashley said in singsong, as a knock was heard through the apartment. Harry’s head poked through as he let himself into the apartment. Everyone had a key to both apartments, so they wouldn’t need to answer the door every time one of them wanted to visit. It was easier this way. He closed the door behind him and waited for Beth as she greeted him with a hug.

“Just give me a minute to get my phone.” She mumbled into his chest before dashed off to her room.

“Ash! Jess!”

Beth could hear Harry greet the two and their giggling response as she walked into her room. She had lied. Her phone was already in her back pocket, she just needed a minute to calm down. This boy was going to be the death of her.

It seems that after she had declared her feelings for him, they had intensified. He nearly took her breath away as he walked in with his signature brown boots, black skinny jean clad legs and a white almost transparent t-shirt. Topped with an open red plaid button up, he was making her knees shaky. She took deep breaths to calm herself and her raging hormones.

Spraying herself once with a vanilla-scented body spray and combing through her hair, she prayed to God to help her last these next few hours alone with Harry.

They roamed the aisles of the local Tesco, with Harry pushing the already half-filled basket along. They had already picked up some bread, milk, eggs, fruits and veggies and a few meat products. Harry groaned as Beth kept filling up the cart with healthy food items.
