Chapter Four
Ariel!
He went running to me and hugged me.
He wasn’t the other boy from before.
I miss you, Ariel.
I miss you too, I said with tears filling my eyes.
I’m coming back.
Where are you? He didn’t hear me.
Do you remember me?
Do you?
I couldn’t answer.
My voice couldn’t come out right.
Do you remember me, Ariel? His voice echoed. I could only answer with my pouring tears that fell like a waterfall.
The alarm’s annoying shrilling noise filled the air, making me groan in annoyance. I shook my head roughly, trying to remember my dream. It felt so real, but I couldn’t recognize the boy at all… The eeriness of my dreams lately kept me wondering. I knew they happen for a reason, and there had to be one for the ones I’ve been having recently.
Shaking my head again, I remembered the daily routine for school and rubbed my eyes of sleep. First day of school, oh joy! I thought sarcastically, groaning in annoyance. After I turned off the cell phone alarm, I grabbed a pair of jeans, a simple purple v-neck shirt, and undergarments. I went into the bathroom for a quick cold shower, got out and changed into my clothes. I ran downstairs and grabbed some Cocoa Puffs cereal box along with milk to pour into a small bowl. Grabbing a spoon, I dumped it in the bowl and headed to the dining room to eat. I ate in record time, ran upstairs again to brush my teeth, fixed my messy dark hair a bit to make it more presentable and grabbed my backpack for school. As I hurried back downstairs, I snatched my house and car keys, wallet, and phone, jogging to my car outside. I wasn’t late, if that’s what you’re wondering. It’s just that I hated parking there and it’s the first day of school, so might as well go earlier than usual.
I drove off to school and checked the time: 7:23, it’s still early. Let’s hope my first day is better than I expected. I hope I don’t meet Sebastian at all, and after that thought, my day suddenly felt like the worst. The student parking lot wasn’t filled yet; not much people at the moment. I got out of the car and locked it, then headed in front outside of my school’s assembly where I’d usually meet my friends before school started. North Delevan High School was pretty big and had a modern look: reddish-brown bricked buildings, trees scattered around the campus and outside of it, which looked really nice. From what I recalled, most of the classes were spacious and freezing cold. The only thing I really disliked was P.E., which is why I decided to do dancing classes instead for junior and senior year.
I looked around to see any familiar faces, and there were several. I didn’t talk to them much last year, and the rest of everyone here were mostly freshmen. Since I was alone and none of my friends were here, I took out my phone and texted Marc and Jason in our group chat.
Ariel: are you guys at school yet? Im bored.
Jason: Behind you.
As I turned around, like anticipated, Jason flicked my forehead and smirked. “Hey hey hey,” he wagged his eyebrows with a perverted smile while mocking the Ice King’s voice.
“Hey,” I greeted back with a smile and hugged him. “Stalker.”
“In a good way…” He looked around accusingly for Jane, as if she was a serial-killer; she was his major stalker, and creepy too. I feel kind of bad for her because she doesn’t have any friends and she was nice but, still a stalker. Everyone knew she was one of the nerds in our grade, but nobody really talked to her and she was usually ignored.
