Defiance

PROLOGUE

Government- "Dream State" Experiment Base

"Sir they're waking up." I notify my Sergeant

"Which ones?" He asks

"Subjects Q007 and R029"

"How is this possible?"

"We believe that the Dream State has been tampered with. Possibly a computer fault but not as likely as a Defiant."

"How aware are they of the situation?"

"They know everything." I explain

"Who told them!?!"

"One of the Defiance slipped in a rebel feed alerting them of our plans into the Dream State."

"Kill them! And the Defiance too!"

I leave the room. I hate neutralizing subjects. They didn't ask for this.

I make my way down the winding halls, and enter the control room. I sit in my chair and turn to the controls.

I pull my chair up to the switches. Each Subject has a chip connected to the control room. All I have to do in flip a switch labeled as them, put my key in and twist, but I know what the Serg really wants.

I flip the switch that wakes up the subjects.

Let the chaos commence.

The red ALERT sign comes on and the lights begin flashing.

I hear the thick combat boots of the soldiers running down the hall. It really is hard to control 2 very confused subjects.

I open the door that leads into the hallway and step out, getting a clear view of the first subject, Q007. He was frantic, pushing soldiers away, constantly yelling out.

"Who are you people!" he yelled

Then he looked me dead in the eyes.

"Pete?" He mumbled

I nodded my head.

Then one of the soldiers pushed him to the ground. I drop my head in regret, not being able to watch what is inevitably going to happen. The last thing my brother ever heard was a gunshot. My brother, Subject #Q007.
