I looked upon the bloody mess in the gazebo. What I saw left me in amazement. I had never seen something this catastrophic and beautiful. The bodies were... well, grotesque even for me. None of the body parts were attached to anything besides the legs nailed to the posts, the fingerless arms hanging from the ceiling, and the two heads sewn together. Can't forget that lovely detail.
"Well."
"Well, what?"
"What do you think?" asked the curious Fable.
"Well, whoever did this has had past experience."
"What do you mean?" Fable asked, unsatisfied with my answer.
"One he knew exactly where to strike his victims and two the cuts on the victim's flesh are clean and precise which shows he didn't hesitate, if he hesitated the cuts would be jagged and, well, messier."
"Messier than it already is."
I snap my fingers "Exactly."
"Okay, so we know the murderer is a pro, and by the looks of it the weapon was a knife."
"Wrong."
"Wrong?"
"Have you ever heard of a knife cutting consistently through both flesh and bone?" I reply.
"Well, if it's not a knife, then what was the weapon?" Fable asked.
"I have an idea, just let me think."
"Okay, I'll leave you to it."
I have no clue what the weapon is. It isn't something simple like an axe because if it was then the bones would be partially broken. It isn't a knife or a sword. Dammit what could it be? Come on, think crazy, think crazy... what could it be... wait that's it, what cuts through bone and flesh and makes a bloody mess. Hey that rhymes. That's it the weapon is a...
"Hi guys!"
Shit.
"How are you doing, Fable?"
Someone shut him up.
"Chamber, how's it hanging?"
Should I cut his tongue off or rip his vocal cords out?
"Wilson, shut the hell up!" Fable finally says.
"Don't you see Chamber's thinking."
"Oh sorry what are you thinking about Chamber?" Wilson asked.
"Whether I should drug you or keep you awake."
"Ha, I don't get it."
He doesn't realize that I already decided on his tongue. The bastard made me forget what I was going to say.
Freaking Abbot Wilson. The lead scientist in the department. Apparently he is a genius with an IQ score of 160. But I bet if I split his head open there will be nothing in there.
Ok, getting off topic. Come on what was I thinking before? What cuts through bone and flesh and makes a bloody m...
"You done yet Chamber?" Wilson asks
"That's fucking it!"
I grab ahold of my machete ready to see what's in that thick skull of his.
"Chamber!"
Fable grabs my arm before the blade hit Wilson's temple.
"Get ahold of yourself!"
"I can't focus with this shit head talking 24/7." I say with anger in my voice.
"Sorry Chamber, I didn't know I was like a match to the fuel."
Fuel. Fuel! That's it!
"What cut through bone and flesh and makes a bloody mess!"
"Wilson, you're a freaking genius! Sorry I wanted to cut your head off." I say with joy.
"Uh.. Don't..mention it?" He said confused.
"The weapon is a chainsaw, I know what happened here!"
"Huh?" They all say confused.
"The bodies were cut up using a chainsaw."
"But wouldn't the people around have heard the chainsaw?" Fable said still confused
Typical.
"Yes, but these people weren't killed here." I say
"They were killed somewhere else and then transported to here, and if I'm right then the murderer drained the blood from the victims. Put it all in one or more buckets and through it around like an abstract painting."
I am impressed, very impressed with this killers technique.
I look around me and on the ground I see little splatters of blood in the shape of an arrow. I look in the direction the arrow was pointing and it lead to a van that was parked on the side of the road.
"How long has that van been there?" I asked.
"I think since we got here." Wilson answered.
I couldn't contain my excitement, I bolted to the van wondering what I would find.
I reach the back door of the van and opened it. What I saw was truly amazing.
The walls had smiley faces drawn with blood and in the middle of the van was a present.
I opened the box to see a pyramid of fingers and on the top were 6 blue gems.
Gems of cobalt.
