In the distance I can hear a phone ring. Is that mine? Don't know, don't care. But for whatever reason my eyes open. I stood up from my chair and started to stretch, I look over to where Fable laid asleep.
"Dammit, he drank all the whiskey."
The phone continued to ring.
I picked up the phone.
"Chamber speaking, what the hell do you want?"
"Chamber, is that you? It's me Wilson, sorry I'm so used to Fable answering."
"Yeah I know." I say looking at Fable.
If there is a word for over drunk then I wish I knew it for this situation.
"Anyways why are you calling?" I ask.
"The killer from last night struck again."
"Really! Are you sure?" I said.
"Yeah I'm sure, the Cobalt's here to prove it, come to Baran Street."
"Hell yeah! We'll be right there."
I hung up the phone. I grabbed a bunch of papers and through it on Fable.
"Fable, wake up! The Cobalt Killer struck again last night."
"Ugh, really?"
"Yeah come on we have to go now!"
"Ok... I'll get ready."
"Alright give me the keys and I'll..."
"Like hell you're driving my car!"
"Well you can't drive with that big of a hangover."
"Then we will walk."
"What!"
"We will walk."
"The crime scene is two miles away!"
"So."
I can't wait that freaking long.
"Come on, no time to lose right."
He runs out of the door.
"You son of a bitch."
I run after him.
I exit the station to find Fable passed out. I pick him up and put him on my back.
"You're a pain in the ass you know that right." I said not expecting a response.
I start to run like I was in a marathon, while I was running I was asked if that was my next victim. Yes, I'm carrying my hungover partner just so I can gut him like a fish.
Idiots.
After about an hour we made it to our destination, I put Fable down.
"Fable, wake up we're here."
He didn't respond, my mind was asking "Is he dead?"
I started poking him.
"Fable?"
Still no response.
Fine.
I took one step back, and kicked him in the gut.
"Ahh, you... bastard!"
"Finally your up."
"You Mother...!"
"You can thank me later, come on we need to get inside."
I gave him a mint and sunglasses and then we went inside.
"You two are late!" Said Ironsides
"I can explain sir." I said.
"No time for that, the killer from..."
"The Cobalt Killer." I said.
"Whatever he is, this thing killed again."
"Already on it sir." I said with glee.
"Fable you seem... off."
"No no, I'm fine."
"Holy shit!" I said.
"What!?"
"It's..it's... beautiful."
What laid before my eyes was a bloody picture of a machete.
"Oh my god." I muttered under my breathe.
This is a calling card.
For me.
