PART ONE
As I skinned the rabbit I cast my thoughts back over the scar in my mind; the flames, the hatred and the deception. I hadn't thought about it properly until now. I had lost my family to Imperials, and they had slaughtered them like filthy rats that needed to be exterminated. They were humans not rats, they had no right to do this to them, to me. My family weren't thieves but, there was a lot around. I often heard the anguished cries of pain, at night from thieves that had been caught and were tortured for their crimes. I admired thieves, I don't know why but, something about them made me excited. Living on the run, not knowing whether you'd be safe or rich. The thieves that I had seen over the 17 years of my life hadn't been rich. Simply fighting for their lives with what they could steal. They didn't have homes, just the streets and dark ally's. Some even lived high up in bell towers. Secluded. Away from the patrolled Imperial streets. There wasn't much they didn't control, the Imperials.
They owned most of the land that wasn't wilderness. Such as Avotdale and the Big City or as the old folk call it by its true name. Acildus. The Capitol of Imperium controlled and ruled by the Imperials under the command of Malubus. The so called 'god of our age'. If you ask me, he's just evil, he takes from the poor and kills anything that doesn't obey. Since I was 15 and my family were taken, I've had to live on my own, fending for myself and discovering my skills and boundaries. Ever since I was little I loved climbing trees. Any chance I could climb something I would, I'd try setting a goal to get up to certain places. When I reached them, I would sit there and gaze at my surroundings and take in the scenery of the untouched wilderness, a place that Imperials wouldn't dare touch in fear of being over thrown by everyone they control. It's the little excitement most people have besides being labored or disregarded by the smaller population of rich people that were either under the kings family tree or were famous for some reason.
