It was a short drive to the DDE Library, it was right next to their headquarters, which was disguised as a high rise apartment building. The Library had many different books on the many types of monsters and demons that came about around town and even kept records of who beat what type of monster or demon. I had only been in the Library a couple of times. Jacob and I went into the back part of the vast Library, the front part was mainly the standard books there you were expected to see in a library. Jacob let me sit on a bench and then went and grabbed a book off one of the shelves.

"This is what I wanted you to see," Jacob said handing me an old book.

"What is this about?" I asked opening to book.

"This book is about what we call demons and how they differ from the actual demons," Jacob said.

"What do you mean? I thought that demons were demons," I said.

"Well, actually all the DDE deals with are monsters that use energy rather than physical strength," Jacob said.

"Then why do you want to show me this," I asked.

"Because there is a type that hasn't been seen for a long time, one that you were responsible for killing," Jacob said.

"You mean the night my parents were killed," I said.

"Yes, characterized by the silver blood that it bleeds. There is something that Mother has forgotten to do for you and that is to monitor your powers," Jacob said.

"What do you mean, I've always had the same powers," I said, at that Jacob seemed to grow more concerned.

"Look this type of monster can steal a hunter's power and use it for themselves or give it to another monster. You killed it, but that doesn't mean that it didn't affect you," Jacob said taking the book and putting it back.

"What do you mean?" I asked.

"What if you have lost power that you had at one point?" Jacob said, "This is why I want you to take some time off and stay at the DDE headquarters for awhile. You need some time to recover from these past few weeks, you have done nothing but work and it has taken its toll on you."

"I can't do that and you know that," I said moving to stand. I managed not to collapse in weakness.

"Look I know that Mother might not approve, but we can protect you from her," Jacob said walking over.

"I'll see what I can do about getting a few weeks where I'm not on call fro more than a day or two at a time," I said.

"No you need to get a few weeks, you need to rest," Jacob said.

"Alright, I'll see what I can do," I said.

The ride back was silent, I could tell that he was very annoyed with me for not staying home, and for not wanting to request for time off. I knew that I should since I did just go through a few hard fights, but I couldn't remember why I didn't. It was like I was loosing memories of my life. Come to think of it I didn't remember much before a couple months ago, I guess that was just my bad memory. I don't even think that I knew Jacob before high school.

We arrived back at the park before nightfall and I started to open the car door. Jacob came over to my side of the car to help me, but I refused the help.

"Are you going to drive yourself home?" he asked.

"Yes, Mother will be suspicious if you take me home again. Besides I need to clear my head, take a mental break from thinking about monsters and demons," I said standing and starting to walk off.
