I have no idea how long I was out, but when I woke up I was in the DDE Infirmary. I looked around, it had been a long time since I was in here. I couldn't remember the last time actually, but I knew that I had been here quite a few times. I chose not to try and search my mind for the memory since I would just zone out again and I really do not need to be kept here longer than necessary since I know that Mother will punish me for this. The room looked like an emergency room, only it was empty at the moment. I knew that they were more suited to the injuries that come with fighting monster and demons, even more suited than the MCPA.
The nurse came in to see me. I recognized her as the one that came to my apartment. She didn't look too happy with me at the moment. I know that I went against what she said, but I knew that there was no way that I was going to be able to follow what she told me to do.
"Hello Martha," I said.
"I see that you went out hunting," she said looking at my arm that was now bandaged.
"I couldn't get time off," I said.
"I swear, it's a miracle that Mother even has people to fight the monsters," Martha said.
"It's alright I guess, I mean I feel like I'm the only one that gets called out. I know though that the MPCA is really understaffed," I said. Martha gave me a look of disapproval.
"Well, they really did it this time. I'm reporting the MPCA over this," Martha said.
"Why what happened?" I asked. I knew the basics of the rules between the two groups. Never keep someone on call longer than a week, unless there is too few to do this. Safety is the first priority, never endanger anyone without it being necessary. I couldn't think of any more, but I decided not to push it.
"From what Guardian said you were on call for the last two weeks, one of which was intense. Guardian reported that you were out almost every night and fighting intense battles. They have overworked you to the point of exhaustion, not to mention the dehydration and malnourishment," Martha said.
"Alright, when can I get back to work for the MPCA then?" I asked. I knew that I was in danger if I didn't return. Mother would do something, but I didn't remember what it would be.
"You're not going back," Martha said.
"What?" I asked.
"You were brought here by a MPCA Agent, they left you here. It is enough to transfer you to the DDE. You are not the first agent to end up here through the Transfer Rule," Martha said.
"Transfer Rule?" I asked. I knew that I should know the rule, but I guess I didn't.
"When a member of the MPCA is brought here by another MPCA Agent and left, the MPCA has abandoned the person and if the person wants, they are given the opportunity to transfer to the DDE," Martha said.
"This a misunderstanding, I was brought here of my will and Shadow didn't want to leave me," I said, Guardian came into the room and looked like he had a lot on his mind.
"Silver, you need to consider all your options. There is a reason that I did that. They do not treat you well there and I've seen what they do when an agent has no use to them," Guardian said.
"They are sent to the retirement building," I said.
"Have you ever seen anyone after they retire?" Guardian asked.
"No, but we never have any time to visit. Besides, even with my clearance, I'm not allowed to go there," I said.
"That's because when they are done with the agents, they feed them to the monsters," Guardian said.
"No, that's not right. I know that they don't do that," I said.
"Silver, you were there when I found out. We saw them eat Alexia, she was our friend. How can you not know about that?" Guardian asked.
"I've never been there and I have no memory of that. You're lying," I said. I knew that I was missing something about the retirement building, but I could feel that Guardian was right. I didn't want to believe it though. Everything just seemed like it was crashing down around me and the more I talked with Guardian, the more I realized that there were things that I was missing. Things that I should know, but I don't.
"I'm not," Guardian said. The next thing that I knew I was unable to speak.
"She'll be out in few seconds," Martha said. I felt so tried and closed my eyes even though I was unhappy about the situation.
"Maybe we can get her to remember," Guardian said. After that I was asleep again.
