I heard faint sirens, and the next thing I knew the paramedics were shining a bright light in my eyes and loading me on to a gurney. There was a pounding in my head, and I couldn't feel my legs.

"What's your name sweety?" The paramedic lady was speaking to me in a light voice.

"Charlie" I answered in a whispery voice. The pounding was intense.

"Ok Charlie I need you to stay calm. We're bringing you to the hospital."

"W-where's Andy?"

"Who's Andy?"

The next thing I remember was waking up in a hospital bed. I was confused. The nurse came in and told me Andy was waiting outside if I wanted to see him. Of course I said yes. He walked in with a sling around his neck cradling his arm.

"Oh my God are you ok? The nurse told me your leg was broken in three places."

"That's news to me!"

It was at this moment I yanked the blanket off my legs to expose a purple cast going up past the middle of my shin. Shit.

"Oh wow."

"I'm so sorry I should have never picked you up. I should have just called my dad as soon as I realized there was something suspicious."

"No, no, it's ok it's not your fault. But who was following us and what did they want?"

"I don't know. My dad said he would tell me as soon as he figured it out."

"Ok please tell me when he does. Here's my number."

I handed him a torn off piece of paper from the notebook on the table net to my bed. He gave me a goofy grin. It was really cute. He said I had a concussion. I really wanted out of the hospital.  I hate hospitals. The nurse came in again to check on me, and she told me my parents were here and that I could leave.

"Oh my poor baby are you ok?!?"

"Mom I'm fine. Can we please go home?"

That's when Matt burst through the door and almost tackled me with the biggest hug I've ever gotten.

"I thought you were dead! I don't want to loose my other sister too."

I could tell he'd been crying. His eyes where red and puffy. He picked up my crutches he knocked down and we got in the car. When we got home he carried me up stairs. He was really shaken up. It didn't hit me till the middle of the night when I had a nightmare of the wreck that I could have died. I woke up in a puddle of sweat and Matt was sitting on my bean bag. He couldn't sleep and neither could I so we just talked and talked until we fell asleep.
