Recap: Flynn and Arden have just got back from their little adventure to the shops then the hospital. They are approaching Beckett, Matt and Lindsey who are laughing in the corridor.
We walked up to the group slowly, hoping to catch one of their eyes before we reached them. It wasn't until we were about a meter away before Matt looked up and gave Flynn a funny look.
"Dude what the hell did you do to your nose?" he questioned, making the others look up and stare too.
Flynn looked down at me, smirked cheekily and then looked back up to the others. He winked at them then grabbed my hand and pulled me in the other direction. I could hear Lindsey's confusion as I laughed to myself. Flynn's hands were big and warm, and engulfed my own smaller hands like a blanket. I managed to pry my hand out of his when I felt them getting clammy and he looked down at me, slightly confused and sad. He didn't say a word, so I didn't either.
We parted ways outside my history classroom and he winked at my as I entered the room. EVERYONE was glaring at me. And when I say everyone, I mean the teacher included. I found a spare seat near the back of the room and sat down on it. The whispers followed me as I made my way across the classroom. The girl sitting diagonally in front of me even had the nerve to turn around and confront me.
"Hey newbie?" she whisper-shouted, her body twisted in her chair to face me.
"What do you want?" I replied, trying not to draw too much attention to myself.
"How do you know the Boys? Are you with one of them?" she questioned, her voice getting steadily louder.
"No..! I just met them today." I replied calmly, "Stop bothering me, I would like to actually learn something today." What I hadn't realized was that the class had suddenly gone completely silent.
"Molly, will you please turn around and face the front." the teacher said sternly to the girl in front of me, she obeyed immediately and picked up her pen to start the work. "Arden, will you please see me at the end of the lesson, you'll need to know what I expect from you in this class, and talking when you are supposed to be working independently isn't one of them."
Everyone was staring at me, so all I could do was nod my head quietly and get on with my work. The lesson dragged on, but I managed to speed through the work, getting most of it finished before the lesson was over. The bell rang and everyone threw their books into their bags and rushed out of the classroom.
I approached the teacher at the front of the room and she offered me to take a seat. I sat down in a chair opposite her desk where she was already seated and she began to talk.
"I'm going to be blunt with you here, Miss Walters, I don't appreciate the amount of disturbance you've caused to the school and it's only your first day!" she drawled on to me for the next ten minutes and somehow I knew this conversation would end up being about my new found friendship with the Boys. "I recommend that you cut all ties that you have with Beckett Lowis and Flynn Parker. They won't give you a good reputation. I don't know what you were used to in your previous school, but here at Riverdale, we won't accept bad behavior."
At the mention of my old school, I just lost it. It wasn't that I hated the school per say, I just hated the people in it and the things that happened there. I stood up and walked toward the door, turning around slightly and speaking loudly back at her.
"Do not talk to me about that place, I came here for a new start not for some teacher to dig up the past. Also, I can choose who my friends are myself, and don't need your assistance. Thank you very much."
I stormed out of the room and into the corridor, straight into a rock hard chest. The person I had just speed walked into held me up and looked into my face. It was Matt.
"What's the matter? Old Leonards give you the talk about us Boys?"
I nodded my head and he saw the tears beginning to pool in my eyes and squeezed me into a tight bear hug.
"Let's get you to your locker,"he said, motioning for me to follow him down the endless corridor. "I can get Becks to drop you home if you want?
"No, I'm okay, I have to cycle home anyway." I mumbled and he murmured a reply. We reached my locker, where Lindsey was standing. I said goodbye to Matt and thanked him, and put my books inside of my locker.
"I can't believe how close you've become with the Boys, it's great!" she laughed and we chatted all the way to the bike shed.
I cycled my new route home and parked my bike round the side of my house. Walking up to my door, I heard laughing echoing from inside. I smiled as my little brother, Connor, probably had friends over. I unlocked the door with the key that was stowed in my purse.
"I'm home!" I shouted to whoever was in the house at that point. It was a habit and I always did it even if I knew there was nobody there. Maybe it was a comfort thing.
