Recap: We turned the corner and at the end of the aisle, I saw him. My ex.
"Shit!" I cursed, quickly trying to hide my face behind Flynn's arm. He grabbed my arm and his eyes studied my face.
In all the confusion, I hadn't realised that my ex had approached us. It was too late. He had seen me...
"My sweet little Arden. Found yourself a new lover already? I would've at least thought it wouldn't taken a few weeks to get over me; we only broke up last Tuesday when you had to oh so suddenly move schools" he sneered sarcastically as he moved his face really close to mine.
His eyes burned in to mine and I was about to bring my knee up sharply into his crotch when he jolted away. Flynn had pushed him away from me.
"Stay away from me, Kyle. I'm over you." my voice caught in my throat as I said it and I watched Flynn tower over Kyle as they stood in front of each other in a stand off.
It was lucky that the shop wasn't all that busy at that time of day so there weren't any witnesses to see what happened next.
I saw Kyle's hand move before Flynn did and I only had time to run forward about a metre before it hit Flynn's face. His head jolted away from the impact and I ran to hold him up. He pushed me away gently, but with great force and then punched Kyle in the stomach, knocking the wind out of him.
Kyle stayed there for about a second, bent in half and clutching his stomach before standing up straight, eyes blazing.
"Flynn...!" I only had time to blurt out before I watched Kyle headbutt him in the face. I heard a sharp cracking noise and I was pretty sure Flynn's nose was broken.
Flynn let out a cry of pain and pinched his severely bleeding nose. This must've been when the adrenaline rush hit him. He pushed Kyle to the floor with his free hand and kicked him twice in the stomach before turning around and grabbing my arm.
He pulled me hurriedly out of the aisle and outside the shop, still holding his broken nose.
"We need to get to a hospital," I muttered under my breath.
"No. I'm fine. We haven't gotten your clothes yet." Flynn replied.
I unclamped his hand from his face and inspected the injuries hidden underneath. Blood coated his top lip and his nose was purple and an odd shape. He looked me straight in the eye the entire time.
"No. We need to get you to a hospital. Forget about me - it was my fault you got hurt in the first place... If I had only-"
"No Arden, it wasn't your fault. Let's run in quickly and get your clothes and then I promise we'll go to a hospital and get my nose checked out." He said earnestly and I nodded.
We wandered back into the shop, hoping we wouldn't run into Kyle again. I ended up with a black and white striped crop top and scruffy black high-waisted shorts. I treated myself to some cute high heeled black boots, which made me slightly taller than I was before.
We walked out of the shop and I checked my phone. It was halfway through my free period, so we only had 45 minutes to get through the hospital. Flynn must've caught my worried expression because he smiled sweetly.
"Don't worry, we'll get seen quickly - my mum works at the hospital,"
We mounted his bike and rode to the hospital, Flynn felt more tense than before, so I held on tighter.
We arrived quickly at the hospital and Flynn parked the bike. He helped me remove my helmet and balanced them on the seat of the bike. We walked through the main doors of the hospital and approached the front desk.
Flynn smiled sweetly at the receptionist.
"Hi Maggie, is my mum free?"
"Ooh Flynn my darling boy, that's a nasty broken nose you've got there; yes, your mum is free. Who's this lovely young lady you've brought along with you?"
I smiled at Maggie and introduced myself.
"Hello, I'm Arden, I'm new to the school."
"Oh how lovely that Flynn has such a pretty friend" her compliment made me blush a little and I thanked her. "You know which way to go Flynn, right through there."
We walked down the corridor a bit until we came to the door that had a sign in it saying:
Yvonne Parker
Consultant PractitionerFlynn knocked quietly and pushed down the handle to open the door.
"Hey mum," he said quietly, scratching the back of his neck, obviously embarrassed. "I... umm... hurt my nose...?"
His mum looked at him with a tired expression and sighed, then noticed me peeping over his shoulder. I smiled at her apologetically and she motioned for us to sit inside of her office.
"What happened to you then little mister? And why have you brought a girl along on one of your little adventures to see mummy while she's at work?" I giggled at the sight of Flynn's ears turning red at his mother's cheeky comments.
"Please just sort me out, mum, and we'll be out of your way..." he muttered, clearly embarrassed, "This is Arden by the way - she's new."
His mother gave him a stern look, then blinked a few times and started gathering up her tools to clean up Flynn's still bleeding nose. After half an hour of motherly actions and Flynn trying to disguise his whimpers, we left the office. We now only had 10 minutes to get back to school.
When we reached Flynn's motorbike, he threw me the helmet and gave me an apologetic look.
"Sorry about my mum - she's so embarrassing..."
"Don't worry," I giggled "I think she's lovely!" I climbed on to the bike, still giggling at Flynn's embarrassment and held on to his waist again.
We were back at school in no time at all, my hair windswept and interesting from the speed. I had my new outfit on and I felt fresh and clean. Flynn checked his phone and motioned for me to follow him. We met up with Beckett, Matt and Lindsey, whom were all bent over laughing by the school hall. I wondered how they had been punished for the food fight at lunch and what had happened since myself and Flynn had left them just under 2 hours ago.
