Castiel had originally intended just for them to roast marshmallows over the fire once it started but Dean had other ideas.

He pulled out some Graham crackers from his bag and some chocolate

"Let's make s'mores!" He announced

The Angel squinted, confused "What is that?" He asked as he watched the older Hunter pulling the ingredients out of his bag.

Dean gasped dramatically "You don't know what s'mores are?!"

Castiel slowly shook his head, wondering what he was missing "No I have not."

"Well you're definitely trying some now buddy." Dean added as he set the Graham crackers next to the chocolate and marshmallows beside him on the dusty ground.

He then reached into his pocket for his lighter but soon passed it to Castiel as even though he'd helped build the fire he still didn't feel like he could light it and Castiel understood this and opened the silver lighter and held it in one of the small gaps in the sticks that they'd left and flicked the wheel and a spark sprung from the end of the lighter, quickly catching on the dry kindling in the base of the fire and within minutes it was spreading and starting to ignite the smaller sticks too and then handed the lighter back to Dean once he was sure the spark had caught.

The three men just sat there for a few minutes watching as the fire ate away at the sticks and leaves, Castiel in wonder and the two brothers in horror as they tried really hard not to think that this was the same element that had assisted in killing their mother and soon they looked away, trying to get that awful image from their heads.

Dean cleared his throat "So..Cas.." the angel turned from the fire to face him

"Yes Dean?"

"You got any sticks we can use for the marshmallows? They gotta be study and possibly sharp but if not I can sharpen them." Dean asked and Castiel searched the pile of wood beside the now steadily burning fire and soon produced three medium sized sticks that are perfect for marshmallow roasting and handed them to Dean.

"Perfect! Thanks Cas."

The Angel smiled "You are welcome Dean, I am glad I could help." He replied as he watched Dean pull out one of his knives and start to carefully sharpen the ends of the sticks to make them sharp enough to impale the fluffy balls of sugar and also make the ends sanitary to eat off of by cutting away the dirty bark.

Once that was done he handed one to each person "So now we just toast the marshmallows til they're a nice golden brown." he instructed Castiel who did know how to toast marshmallows as he'd observed humans do it before but he could tell that Dean was enjoying being able to teach him about something so he just listened and nodded along with what he was saying.

"Says you Dean!" Sam chimed in "You once burned yours so bad the whole thing was black!"

Dean frowned at his younger brother "Shut it Sam! I..meant to do that." He defended and Sam just smirked "Course you did." and then proceeded to stick a marshmallow on his stick and hold it over the fire.

Dean followed suite but put two marshmallows on as he liked to have a very full s'more and then he stuck them into the flames of the fire so they would toast. Castiel did the same and within a few moments the marshmallows were done; Sam's marshmallow being a bit black in some parts but overall good, Castiel's was a perfect golden brown but Dean's were black and on fire.

"Son of a bitch!" He exclaimed as he blew the fire on them out, leaving him with two completely black and burnt marshmallows and Sam fell about laughing.

"What did I tell you?!" He teased through laughter

Castiel could tell that Dean was annoyed about his marshmallows so he put a comforting hand on his shoulder "Don't worry Dean, there are plenty more marshmallows." He told the hunter in hope of cheering him up.

Dean looked at the angel and chucked the reject marshmallows in a bin bag "Yeah I guess, I'm just pissed cause Sam gets to prove me wrong." He muttered; he hated being proved wrong.

However Dean didn't hold onto his bad mood and just tried again with just one marshmallow this time and much to his relief he was successful.

"Yes finally!" He beamed at his almost perfect marshmallow and then pulled out the graham crackers, passing two to Sam and two to Castiel, keeping some for himself and also handing out some squares of chocolate.

"Okay Cas so you put the chocolate on the bottom graham cracker then you put the marshmallow in the middle and the final cracker on top." He explained "Like a sandwich."

The angel had been a little confused but when Dean said it was like a sandwich he started to understand as he'd made sandwiches before. He slowly assembled his s'more, taking his time about it so that it was perfect, therefore the brothers were already done and waiting eagerly for him to take a bite and see his reaction.

Castiel didn't understand why they were both staring at him "What now?" He asked, wondering if he'd done something wrong.

"Just take a bite!" Dean said impatiently and Castiel just nodded and took a bite of the sweet sandwich like snack.

The cracker was the first thing he bit into and it was quite brittle but the chocolate was harder to bite through as it was thick but the creaminess of it made up for that, and then came the marshmallow which was the best part and just melted in Castiel's mouth.

"Mmmm."

The brothers exchanged proud looks as they watched the angel enjoying the s'more and high-fived each other at their success in making the angel like another human food.

It was awhile before the angel looked up again at the brothers, chocolate round his mouth and crumbs on his trenchcoat.

"Can we have more?"
