I sat, miserably, staring at a blank piece of paper on which I was supposed to be writing out the glossary of a book that I never have read and never will. Miss Cane walked up and down the echoey hall slapping her hand on anyone's desk that wasn't doing the work. I was next. A loud thump rang out from my desk and I looked up to see her. Miss Cane was a fairly old teacher. She wore glasses that reached down to the tip of her nose and had long mousy brown hair which was tied up in a clip. Me and my friends have always said that if we were able to give her a makeover, she would look so pretty.  "So young lady..." She said, her mouth so close to my face I could smell the stench of her awful breath. "Why are you not working?" she shouted in my face. I didn't know what to say... I can't say the actual reason that I wasn't copying the glossary as it was the same reason I got in to the detention anyway! "Ummmmm..." I muttered, my eyes darting around the room desperately looking for inspiration. "I... well" I stuttered. "That's what I thought, two hours added detention" she said, her piercing eyes staring at my head which was looking down at the empty page. Damn! Another day of detention.

I sat there for another half an hour before I was allowed to go home. As I walked home I thought about the reason I got into detention in the first place! Daydreaming. I just couldn't help it! There is a boy in my class that I just couldn't keep my eyes off of and the teacher noticed... His name is Ethan and he's absolutely gorgeous. Although, me staring at him will never pay off as all the girls are after him and I'm just a girl that half of the class doesn't even know the name of...

Besides... There is this one girl, called Abi, that all the boys are after and she's probably looking to get Ethan. Which means I have absolutely no chance.
With all this to think about, I can't just keep it to myself. So luckily I have a big sister that I can pour my heart out to each and every day. Her name is Jazz and I love her to bits. The great thing is, she actually understands and listens to me!

As soon as I got home I went up to my room, stamping my feet as I walked up the stairs, hoping that Jazz would hear me and come and talk to me.
As I slumped on the bed, there was a knock on the door, and I opened the door, and saw my sister standing there looking worried. I gave her a cheeky grin and she immediately knew what had happened.
"What did you get it for this time?" She said looking at me as I laughed. "Let's just say that I forgot to do the detention work, so I got another two hours of detention..." She sighed and laughed. I knew she wouldn't be angry at me.
