She was the Milky Way and I was Andromeda,
and when we met stars collided.
Little silhouettes on the ground looked up and were blinded
the brightness of our encounter too much.
She was the moon and I was the sea.
She pulled and pushed and I followed.
Her eyes shined with reflective light
and mine with green life.
We danced in eternal cycles of gravity
induced euphoria.
When she set I slept, waiting for her
while men baked my flesh.
And when she rose I awoke again.
She was a sugar hill and I was a fly.
She made me dizzy in relief,
as I lapped up her smooth sin.
Her crystal eyes reflected my emeralds,
and she embraced me with tender arms,
slightly melted in the heat.
She was the wind and I was the trees.
She flew freely as I stood still
Lifting her on her way.
And as she left I did not hold on,
I trusted I would see her again.
On bad days, she was soft;
her fingers barely reaching my anxious touch.
On good days, we danced,
our steps formed a tango
and our voices sang in harmony.
But when she leaves I let her go
and the stars move back into place.
Honestly, I should've held on. Maybe I would be much more happy now.
