Walking into Lincoln High, I realized how different it was from the Carlton School. For instance, there were more students in one hallway than there ever were at the Carlton School. The Carlton School was nicer and we had to wear uniforms. I watched as students ran up to their friends as if they haven't seen each other in years, when in reality it had only been a day. My throat when dry as I saw students I had went to middle school with. They looked different, obviously, but in a good way. Putting my head down I walked to the office that was located close to the entrance. Putting my hoodie down I walked up to a desk where a plump lady with greying hair sat. She looked up at me with no interest and then she began to study my face.
"Can I help you?" She asked staring at me. She was trying to place who I was.
"I'm new here, I was told to come to the office" I explained trying to hurry this conversation along.
"What's the name?"
"Giusepanni Taylor" A look of realization crossed her face and she gave me the famous pity look I've come to know and not love.
"Of course, I'll get you a copy of your schedule, locker combination, and lunch pin number" She turned around and rifled through some files before pulling one out and handing me a pink paper.
"That's your schedule, the rest of the information you need is on the back. Good luck!" She smiled at me and I just gave her nod before walking out. Glancing at my schedule I internally groaned.
First Period-English-Mr. Evans
Second Period-Biology-Ms. Renee
Third Period-Art-Mrs. Anne
Fourth Period-Calculus-Mr. Johnson
Fifth Period-Lunch
Sixth Period-Gym-Mr. Gomez
Seventh Period-World History-Mr. Anderson
I glanced down to see where my locker was and the combination. Finally, after putting my things away I walked to my first period class. When I walked in there was a young male teacher sitting at his desk while a few students sat a theirs. Trying to blend in I walked to the very back row where I assumed no one would notice, I assumed wrong. As I was waiting for the bell to ring I saw a figure standing in front of my desk. Glancing up I realized it was teacher.
"Are you new here?" He asked while sitting in the seat next to me.
"Um, yeah, I started today" He nodded and motioned for me to follow him. Reluctantly, I followed him to his desk where he pulled out some papers.
"What school did you attend before here? I need to see where you are so I can either catch you up or give you more advanced material" He questioned. I felt my face turning red. I knew I had to tell the truth.
"I went to the Carlton School" I muttered and he nodded in understanding.
"Alright, we will just try to figure it out" He pointed towards my desk and I nodded grateful he didn't press further. I sat down and realized a girl had sat next to me.
"Hi, I'm Angelica, but you can call me Ang!" She smiled at me and I just smiled back. Making friends was not something I planned to do. I studied her for a second, she had light pink hair with different colored bobby pins holding her hair into a pony tail. She wore a summer dress, despite the weather.
"What's your name?" She asked gleefully, she reminded me of an excited preschooler on their first day of school.
"Giusepanni" I muttered and she smiled even wider, if that was possible.
