Chapter 3: New Video

It was a Tuesday. I as usual, go to youtube on my laptop and click my subscription box.

merrelltwins uploaded a new video

Nice! They're never kidding when they are never missing a Tuesday. It was a video of them doing another challenge. What I see from that video was the Veronica I know. The Veronica that laughs a lot with eyes sparkling to the camera. At that point it hit me,

I miss her. I miss them. I miss the usual them.

What I didn't realise was that the video was still playing. Instead of the normal 'thanks for watching' outro, it was a video of Veronica, recorded on her macbook.

"Hey guys, it's Veronica. As you guys may know, we post every tuesday but I think from now on we will be posting quite less. I'm so sorry guys. Thanks for watching!"

That. That was the Veronica I saw yesterday. No light in her eyes. A tired expression.

Lunch

I approached the usual table. There was company. Actually, to be specific, one person, Veronica Merrell.

"Hello Roni," I smiled.

She just looks at me with a serious face.

"Can I sit?"

She looks back to her food.

" I assume that's a yes?"

No response. She just eats her food.

"Okay I'll just sit," I sat across her.

"I want to be left alone," she looked back at me with an angry-ish face.

I stood up, nodded, left the table and decided to sit on the ground next to some very noisy group of people that won't even know I was there.

I sat there thinking what happened. She has been shutting everyone down.

Chemistry Class

"Hi Autumn," Casey approached and smiled.

"Casey, Hey!" I smiled back.

"Look I have been planning to talk to your friend Veronica for months now but is she not interested in me?"

"Honestly, Casey, I don't know either. She has been shutting me down too and I'm one of her closest friends,"

"Maybe you should try talking to her or her sister?"

"I tried reaching her sister but she wouldn't pick up. She's on a road trip with her boyfriend. Me talking to Veronica, which I have done, did not work at all,"

"Oh my I think we need to do something,"

"We?"

"Yes we, I care about her too,"

"Since when?"

"Since I watched the new video this morning,"

After school

"Veronica! Need a ride home?" Casey said as he approached Veronica in the crowded hallway with me tagging along him.

"No, stop being in my way,"

"Honestly you don't have to shut me down forever, I know you like me,"

Her expression changed into a more serious one.

"Does this face looks like she needs a man who will look over her? No. Am I right? So get away from me! Stop being so attached! I do not trust men like you!" she finished, closed her mouth with her two hands and walked out the exit.

Ouch that must have hurt.

"You know what Autumn, she doesn't deserve me. Goodluck trying to make that woman herself again," Casey gave me a final sayonara and walked away with a hurt expression on his face.
