"How can we trust the girl when we have no idea who she really is? We have the right to know!" Lady WiFi stood in front of Ladybug, gripping the sides of her mask. She pulled on the red fabric that concealed her true identity.
"N-no! Don't!" Ladybug struggled, trying to get the akumatized Alya away from her face.
Pop! Her ladybug-pattern mask came off. Lady WiFi flung the mask away, staring at Ladybug in shock. She continued to struggle against her restraints, trying to imagine the reactions of her parents. Would they be happy? Would they feel angry? Their daughter has been keeping a huge secret from them. She would always come up with crazy excuses explaining why she came home late or why she would disappear without a trace.
"Marinette?" Lady WiFi turned to the floating pink 'camera'. "The disguise is off and we finally learn who has been hiding under the Ladybug suit. Marinette Dupain-Cheng! This clumsy fool has been our protector? She can barely get through one school day without messing something up!"
Beep! "You're outta minutes, Lad-" Chat froze mid-sentence, half of his body hanging out the service elevator.
Marinette mentally groaned. She had forgotten about Chat Noir and now he knows that Marinette is secretly Ladybug. She looked down, trying to keep down her tears. Keeping their identities secret ensured they could easily work together, regardless of who they really were. If Chat doesn't like Marinette, their teamwork could be greatly affected. If they knew their real selves, it would be extremely awkward if they actually knew each other. Imagine if they were in the same school! Or the same class! (Ohohohohooo)
"M-Marinette? You're Bugaboo?" Marinette made a mental note to kick him later, if there is a later.
"Freeze!" Lady WiFi blasted Chat with a glowing pause button, preventing him from moving.
"No! Stop this, Alya! This isn't you!" Marinette pleaded with her akumatized friend. Lady WiFi ignored her, walking over to Chat.
"How cute, tomcat tries to save his love-bug. Soon you'll know his true self as well, Marinette," she spat out the name like venom. She reached for his hand, where he wore his Miraculous. Lady WiFi carefully removed his ring and turned around, smiling. His black suit and mask disappeared in a green glow, revealing Chat Noir's true identity.
"Adrien?" Marinette breathed. The cat who constantly flirted with her was secretly her crush? ....HOLY CHEESUS CRACKERS SHE KISSED HIM!
Lady WiFi removed the traps that held her back, as well as releasing Adrien. She then strolled out of the kitchen, humming to herself. Meanwhile, Marinette was in mental distress, torn between feeling giddy that she had actually kissed Adrien, or feeling miserable that Alya got their miraculouses.
Marinette slid down the wall and buried her head into her knees, bursting into tears. She heard a thump, indicating that Adrien had fallen out of the service elevator. Ladybug and Chat Noir were gone. No one could stop Lady WiFi or Hawkmoth without them. Marinette cried harder when she realized that she couldn't save her best friend. There was no way to get their Miraculouses back. She suddenly felt a hand slowly patting her back.
"Don't worry, Marinette... We'll get them back..." Adrien had sat down next to her and tried to comfort her.
"We can't Ch- Adrien," Marinette mumbled, too embarrassed to look up at him. "There's no way we can get our Miraculouses or Kwami back. We don't even know where Alya took them! It's hopeless.."
Adrien was silent, rubbing small circles on her back. Marinette continued to sob, shaking. Adrien shifted his position so that he could bring his other arm around her. She felt him bury his face into her hair, choking back his own cries. She moved her limp arms so that they also wrapped around his body and swallowed her sobs. She had to be strong and think of a plan.
"We need to figure something out, but where do we start? We can't just ask someone where Hawkmoth's lair is, and we can't follow Alya, she's too fast and we aren't transformed, so she might try to attack us..." she prayed that her voice didn't sound shaky.
Marinette started to pull away, but before she could, Adrien planted a soft kiss on the top of her head. Marinette felt her face flare and turned away from him, hoping he didn't see how red she was. She leaned against his shoulder, sighing.
"Hey, Mari," Adrien spoke, turning so that he could face her. When she looked down, avoiding his gaze, he lifted her chin with his fingers. Although she tried to keep her sobs from surfacing again, tears pooled in her eyes, threatening to spill. She saw concern and sadness cloud his brilliant green eyes and immediately tore her eyes away, afraid of what he thought of her. Was he disappointed that she was Marinette? That behind her confident spotted mask was a clumsy and accident-prone girl?
"Marinette," he repeated, this time with a demanding tone. She looked up at him, despair building up inside her mind. Relief and worry filled his eyes, but what was there to be happy about? Hawkmoth just about won. Alya was probably there by now, happily handing over their Miraculouses. What was Tikki doing? A new kind of worry washed over her. Was her Kwami okay? Or did she disappear? Concern for her tiny friend bubbled up and she struggled to keep her tears from dripping from her eyes.
While she thought of her Kwami, she didn't realized that Adrien was leaning in until she felt his forehead press against hers. He seemed to swallow a lump in his throat before taking a deep breath and saying, "I'm glad it was you, Marinette."
The floodgates were completely and utterly destroyed as he said that. Marinette couldn't move. She couldn't breath. She couldn't think. She couldn't function. She replayed his words over and over, trying to process what he said.
I'm glad it was you, Marinette.
Marinette.
Meanwhile, Adrien was having a mini-panic attack. Why was she crying? Was she surprised that he was Chat? "A-are you okay, Mari-"
He was interrupted when Marinette twisted and - once again - threw her arms around him.
"I'm happy that it was you, Adrien"
A/N - Okay there might be a part 2.. maybe..
