I woke up the next morning surprisingly in my own bed; I must have blacked out at some point because I couldn't for the life of me recall getting home. I sat up, slowing my movements drastically as my head throb against my skull and steadied myself. I scanned the room; the walls all blurred because I still didn't have my glasses on. Reaching to my bedside table to grab them, my hand brushed past my phone and the home page lit up.

'(1) New message from Ray' my phone read. I squinted my eyes from the brightness my phone exuded and opened the message.

'YOLO'

Fuck you Ray.

Finally allowing my feet to touch the floor, I paced over to the kitchen in only my sweats. The kitchen was surprisingly cold as I got my breakfast prepared. There was a cold chill to the air; odd for Austin weather.

A few minutes before I was supposed to leave, fully showered, I pulled the Tower of Pimps shirt out from my wardrobe and threw that on along with a pair of blue trousers. Heading out of my flat, I could see the Rooster Teeth building just ahead; man living near the building really has it's perks.

I sat in my chair, confused by the lack of Geoff and Gavin.

"What's up?" Ray asked, not averting his eyes from his screen. This was pretty normal with Ray; he was probably recording an achievement guide.

"Not a lot," I replied, rubbing my head as the throbbing pain returned, "Where's Gavin and Geoffy?"

Ray shrugged and continued with his game. "They just never turned up," Jack said from behind me. I turned and looked over to Geoff's empty desk; the computer wasn't even on, he hadn't been here at all.

"How'd you guys get in?" I asked, taking a look over to Gavin's empty chair and sighing a little.

Jack grunted. "Burnie had to let us in. We waited outside for fifteen minutes."

I didn't take my eyes off Gavin's empty chair. The office lacked something when Gavin wasn't here; it lacked it's enjoyment. Even when we had our editing days, Gavin would somehow lighten up the room, but instead, he was still at home, probably regretting a few drinks from last night.

"Okay this is ridiculous," I said, slightly annoyed, "Where are they?" It was now quarter past one. I had a headache and I was coming in? What was their problem?

"I seriously don't know," Ryan said with a tone of confusion.

I pulled my phone from my pocket to ring them when my face dropped.

'(19) New messages from Geoff / (11) Missed calls from Geoff'

My heart sank and I immediately punched my finger into the call button to call Geoff back. There was no answer the first time and by now I was starting to worry; that was a lot of missed calls for nothing.

I ran out of the room and out to the front of the building, furiously scrolling for Geoff's name again and ringing.

"Michael!" Geoff shouted from the other end as he answered.

I could feel my lip quiver from worry as I replied: "Yeah, what's up?"

His breathe sounded shaky and his voice was hoarse. "It's Gavin."

In that second, my heart felt like it stopped. I could feel bile rise in the back of my throat and a single tear beaded in my eye. "Oh my god what happened?" I practically shouted. I heard the door swing behind me and in a moment, Ray was stood next to me. 'Everything alright' I saw him mouth, but I ignored him.

"Before you get too worried, he is alive," Geoff said, his breathe a little too heavy.

I could feel my cheeks getting hotter. "But?" I asked, my heart beating way too fast for my body to handle.

"But..." he started, taking a deep breathe, "He never woke up this morning." I could feel my body sinking. "We rushed him to the hospital. We just didn't know what to do, Michael."

I felt the beaded tear rest on my cheek and I wiped it away with my other hand. "He's going to be alright though?" I asked, noticing Ray's eyes widen; I forgot he didn't know.

"Just get here as soon as you can Michael!" Geoff exclaimed before he hung up the phone.

I pulled the phone away from my ear and continued to stare ahead of me. It wasn't until Ray shook me that I came out of my trance like state.

"What the fuck is going on?" Ray shouted, pulling my head so I was facing him, because I kept just falling away.

"Gavin... hospital," I managed, before I noticed Ray's bottom lip quiver with mine.

"Well shit," he sighed, reaching into his pocket and pulling out his car keys, "Let's go then."

We pulled up to the hospital, my heart racing. There were no spaces available without having to pay, but we just left the car and hoped we wouldn't have to pay before we got back.

I ran in, panting as I turned every corner; then I saw Geoff.

"Michael!" he shouted, as Griffon turned her head to face me. Her eyes were filled with tears; I never saw Griffon cry, it was rare. "Michael thank goodness," he smiled, pulling me into a hug.

I left my hands by my side balled into a fist. "Where is he?" I asked, looking at Millie who was sat in Griffon's lap, biting her nails. What a horrible thing for a child to go through, I thought.

"He's in that room," Geoff said, pointing to the room behind us as he unwrapped his arms from behind my back. I paced up to the door and shoved it open. A doctor came running over and pulled me back.

"Woah," he said, trying to pull the door closed but I kept pushing it, "You can't go in there I'm afraid." I felt tears return to my eyes as I saw Gavin lying there, still.

"Gavin!" I shouted, using my shoulder to push harder at the door, but the doctor held it firm until I just stopped trying.

"I'm sorry you just can't yet," he said, aggrivated at my attempts, and he closed the door rather firmly.

"What's wrong?" I shouted, a tear escaping from my eye, but I managed to wipe it away before it got too far down my cheek.

The doctor sighed and held his clipboard against his chest. "We're not sure yet. We've been running some tests and we're still unsure. We can let you know when you can visit, but for now, you cannot be here."

I held back more tears and turned to Ray who held up his car keys and shook them slightly, telling me to follow.
