Sunday.

I battled against my drowsiness as I slowly opened my eyes. Three hours of sleep was definitely not my cup of tea. It took me forever to get dressed and finish brushing my teeth when the clock started roaring at me.

8:47.

Crap.

I snatched a green bag from the floor, checked that my wallet and phone were there, and ran to the bus stop without turning back.

***

Ten minutes late. Just in time to face the members in the doorway.

"Annyeong." they all greeted cheerfully. They were having an energetic and jolly day, just the polar opposite of how I felt like.

"Annyeong," I greeted back, "are you guys leaving now?"

"Yeah."

All of them hurried outside as I saw Chanyeol waiting for everyone to be the last one in line.

His eyes were bloodshot red as well, and he gave me a nod before walking outside and closing the door after him.

Not thinking much, I went to the supplies room when it hit me like a hammer in the head.

Birthday. Baekhyun's birthday. Money. Cake. Shit. I'm screwed.

"Ha. I'm sure I kept it in my wallet yesterday...right? Yeah, it should be there. Don't be so negative, Chanmi, haha. Ha..." I told myself laughing uneasily.

Ditching the vacuum, I ran to where I tossed my bag and searched for my wallet. I only found three bills.

Stripping my stuff off their covers, the money was nowhere to be found.

Don't panic. Don't panic. Don't panic. Don't panic. Don't panic. Don't panic.

'S-surely I'd be able to buy a cake with this money...right?' I thought with sheer terror as I rushed downtown to the bakery Chanyeol told me about earlier. My throat was burning and the sun decided to torture me.

"Welcome," a lady with a white apron and a chef hat greeted with a bright smile.

"May... I see where... the cakes...are?" I asked out of breath.

"This way."

The store was huge. The floor, the display cases, the wallpaper, and even the bread looked super fancy and elegant. Definitely not the type of place I'd go for bread-shopping.

My jaw dropped and my legs became wobbly when I saw the prices for the cakes.

The cheapest two-floored cost 50000 won.

'A two-floored cake...' Chanyeol's words echoed through my mind as it went blank and I stared off into space.

'What if I combine two single-floored ones and put them together so it looks like one? The smallest one is 17000 won, with a slightly bigger one which is 25000... Oh...'

My heart sank. I was two paper bills short on this. Two green fucking bills.

I looked at the lady with a pleading look and asked carefully, "Do you do discounts?"

"Yes. Do you have a membership card?"

What? A membership card for a freaking bakery?

"No..."

"Then I'm afraid not."

Her words made me feel like someone punched me right on the stomach.

"I'm only 12000 won short..." I stated desperately.
