Chapter 4

EXO's POV

"Are you feeling better, hyung?"

"Are you okay?"

"Do you want me to get you a cup of water?"

The members kept bombarding D.O. with questions he couldn't concentrate enough to answer. His mind was focused on Kai's attitude. Because his body was not working well, he forgot how he moved from the bed to the hospital by himself. It was not the first time Kai got angry at everything for no particular reason, but he never got used to the fact that this was because of him.

D.O. did not understand why Kai had to forcefully fire Chanmi who has been only working for a few days. It was not her fault and he trusted her with all his might. She didn't do anything that affected him.

"Hey, where's... what was her name? Chanhee? Chanyeong? Did she leave already? I'm craving for more fish soup." Lay stated hungrily.

"Forget about her. She's not coming back again." Kai snapped at Lay.

"Dude, calm down. No need to snap at me."

"What do you mean she's not coming back?" Baekhyun asked.

"She quit," Kai answered.

"Why?"

"Is there a reason why one wants to quit a job? She probably got a better one."

"What's wrong with you, Kai?" D.O. asked with concerned eyes.

"Nothing."

As if on cue, the memory came back to D.O's head. The water glass slipping out of his shaky hands. How he transported from the dorm to the hospital. He was on someone's back. For some reason, he could only remember a light yellow color.

But he did remember the murmurs of people around.

'What is a young lady doing carrying a man on her back?'

'So unmannered.'

'Poor little girl.'

Chanmi. It was her. All she did was to help him and ended up getting blamed at instead.

"Kai," he called out.

"What?"

"Chanmi..."

"Don't even mention the name, hyung."

"It's not how you think it is."

"I'm not listening."

"She was just helping-"

Kai left the room leaving him all alone with the rest of the members oblivious to this as they watched their favorite TV show.

D.O. went after him, grabbing his arm. "Kai, why are you like this?"

He gave up. "I'm scared." Kai said as he helplessly fell to the ground with his mouth quivering.

"Why would you be scared?"

"The... the incident that happened a year ago... What if it happens again? I don't want to lose you, hyung."

D.O's face softened and gave his dongsaeng a pat on the back. "It's okay. It won't happen again. I promise."

Chanmi's POV

"Come on, why is no one answering? Did it fall off into a hole?" I kept asking to no one in particular as the heavy black phone kept reaching and I tapped my foot impatiently.
