Valentine's Day Part I

5:45 AM

Bea entered the gym feeling excited and thrilled. She was looking forward to this day because today's Valentine's Day and what makes it even better was it's the first Valentine's Day that she would spending with her girlfriend, Jho. Today would be surely a good day.

"Laki ng ngiti mo ha," Jho teased from Bea's side.

Bea looked over at Jho and her grinned widened. She slung her arm around Jho's shoulders. "Bakit? Masama ba maging masaya today, beh?"

Jho wrapped her arm around Bea's waist in return while she quirked her eyebrows. "Ano ba meron today?"

"Hmm?" Bea placed on a fake thinking face. "Di ko alam e, ano nga ba meron today? It's a special day raw e."

Two can play at this game, De Leon. Jho shrugged and feigned curiosity as well. "Di ko rin alam e."

Obviously in a playful banter, the two volleyball players stared each other down with mirthful eyes and wide smiles. A loud voice shouted from the other side of the gym, "Hoy mga love birds diyan! Training na oy!"

Jho glanced over at the source of the voice and shouted back, "Eto na Ate Ly! Parating na kami!"

Releasing her limb from Bea's waist, Jho started walking backwards away from the other girl. "Partners?" she asked her girlfriend.

Bea answered with a grin, "Always."

"Edi bilisan mo na diyan, baka late pa tayo ipadismiss ni Coach. Eh today's special pa naman diba." Jho gave a playful wink before turning around to jog towards her teammates.

Bea let out a small laugh, excitement continuing to fill her entire body. Today would definitely be a good day.

8:55 AM

Clutching tightly her shoulder bag, Bea ran as fast as she could to the flower booth. Since it was Valentine's Day, some orgs in Ateneo were selling flowers in the campus and they were also willing to deliver these flowers to people during class hours in their classrooms. Almost tripping on a rock, Bea cursed colorfully in her head. Go Bea, takbo lang, di ka pa mallate. She had planned everything. She would order three sunflowers from the booth to be delivered anonymously and separately to Jho in her three classes for the day. However, the universe was unkind to Bea today because Coach Tai suddenly decided to add their drills during training which resulted to dismissing the team late, then for some reason all the girls in the dorm also decided to take a bath at exactly the same time with Bea which resulted to long lines at the bathrooms, and so now she was running late for her 9AM class which was taught by the strictest professor she had for the semester.

Breathing heavily, she finally arrived at the booth with no time to spare. She was at least lucky enough to know the guy handling the booth. "Hey, Brian, I'll order three sunflowers please."

"Yo Bea!" Writing down on a paper, Brian asked, "Sige, pick-up or deliver?"

Bea then said her instructions of delivering the sunflowers separately to three classes. "Lagay mo anonymous tapos ito yung sabihin ng deliverer, 'For the most amazing volleyball player out there, for my MVP' for bawat flower sa bawat class."

Brian nodded and took notes. "Got it. That would be P210. Tsaka yung schedule nga pala ng pagbibigyan mo."

The bell rang in the background and students started filling in and out of their classrooms. Bea started to panic and she blindly took out bills and a piece of paper from her bag. She hurriedly handed them over to Brian. "Ito yung bayad ko, babalikan ko na lang yung sukli tapos ito yung schedule niya. O sige, mauna na ako, late na ako eh. Bye, thanks!"
