Four Fears: First and Second

aka the first and second time Jho had seen Bea truly scared and helpless

FIRST

Jho was frustrated. Her roommates were sound asleep while she sat in front of her computer at the middle of the night cramming a paper that was due later that day. She glanced at her laptop's clock and it read 2:34AM. Ayan, she thought bitterly to herself, cram pa more kasi, Jhoana, cram pa more. She continued to type as she tried to finish her paper. She glanced upwards as she heard someone knock on the door. She removed her earphones and stood from the bed. She opened the door and she was surprised to find Bea on the other side of it.

"Uy," Jho said surprisingly. "Bakit gising ka pa? Late na ha."

"Busy ka ba?" Bea said hesitantly, embracing a pillow close to her chest.

Jho leaned sideways at the door frame and yawned. "Cramming a Theology paper. Anong meron? Bakit di ka pa natutulog?"

"Matutulog na dapat ako kaya lang..." Bea trailed off as she nervously looked around.

"Kaya lang?" Jho asked.

"May spider sa tabi ng bed ko!" Bea exclaimed in fear, stomping her feet.

Jho laughed. "Edi patayin mo! Ang laki-laki mong tao, De Leon."

"Not funny," Bea grumbled, burying her nose into her pillow. "Alam mo naman takot ako sa spiders."

"Dapat pinapatay mo sa roommates mo," Jho said.

"Nasa may study area silang lahat sa baba e. Pwede ikaw na lang? Please," Bea begged.

"May ginagawa pa akong paper," Jho teased laughingly.

"Sige naaaa," Bea complained. "Pretty please," she asked again with wide eyes.

Knowing that she couldn't resist Bea when she did her puppy dog eyes, Jho rolled her eyes as she stepped out of the room and closed the door. "O tara na, matitiis ko ba ang isang Bea de Leon?"

"Yun o!" Bea cheered, placing her arm around Jho as they started walking towards Bea's room.

Once they entered Bea's room, Bea returned to her scared demeanor as she tried to hide herself behind Jho.

"Na saan na siya?" Jho asked her girlfriend. Bea pointed a shaky finger at her bedside table.

Jho then saw the little black speck on Bea's lamp and almost laughed at how small it actually was but decided not to as to not hurt Bea's feelings. "Diyan ka lang, ako na bahala," Jho said to Bea.

Bea stayed put as Jho grabbed a piece of paper from Bea's desk and approached the bedside table slowly. Once close enough, she slid the paper underneath the spider. Quickly, she walked towards the window, opened it, and placed the spider outside.

"Ayan," Jho said. "Wala na siya, makakatulog ka na."

"Thank you, thank you!" Bea exclaimed as she hugged Jho tightly.

Jho laughed and hugged Bea back. "Anytime, beh." Jho pulled away and nodded her head towards Bea's bed. "Matulog ka na, may training pa mamaya."

"Yes, ma'am," Bea said with a grin, saluting jokingly.

"Goodnight," Jho said, kissing Bea's cheek. "See you later sa training," she added before going to the door.

However, Bea grabbed Jho's hand and pulled her back. "Pwede dito ka na lang muna? Just for tonight?" Bea asked shyly.
