My many revision books sit in a towering pile on my dining room table as the doorbell rings, echoing around the large room. I look at the antique clock which rests on the fire place, 12 AM. I immediately rise from my seating position to stand and unhesitatingly open the door to reveal Asher. His old school bag heavily hangs off his broad shoulders and he wore his 'comfy attire', grey joggers and a black hoodie, where as I wore my 'casual attire', stockings, a pencil skirt and a blouse. I almost felt insecure as if I had over dressed for the occasion.
"Hey, Asher, come in." I cautiously step to the side, widening the heavy door before he returns the friendly yet confident smile as he enters my house. In the corner of my eye I catch a glimpse of that Range Rover, it looked as empty. Almost too empty as though something was hiding in it. Or someone.
"Hey, Nats, you okay?" His American accent was thick, however with a slight slang. I couldn't ever speak with slang. My Mother couldn't bear it.
"Yes."
After effortlessly closing the front door, I lead him into the the dining room. His eyes wonder around to look at his surroundings and I catch a glimpse of him through the mirrored walls as we walked.
"Did you bring any snacks?" I ask, pulling out a chair from under the table to sit on it. Asher takes his navy backpack off his back to put it onto the table and he pulls out five bags of chocolate.
"I'm having these." I say before snatching one of the bags in his hand and I immediately open it.
3 hours later
We had thoroughly gone through five topics and I finally understood them. Asher was unbelievably patient as he went through each step with me until I fully understood it. It felt as though he actually cared about how I did in school. He aslo wrote out a revision table out for me so I could do it without him. I must say I was very impressed.
"I should probably go now, I have a maths test on Monday." He disappointedly sighed as though he was stressed or tired of working.
"Ok, I'll see you after summer?" I say however it comes out as a question and he looks rather offended by the question I ask him.
"After summer?" He laughs. "Wow your really not into me are you?" Asher's eyes glow under the sun and the backpack hangs weightlessly on his broad shoulders as he steps off the porch.
"I-" I begin however I am loss for words as the car door to the black Range Rover opens and my heart heavily beats in my shuddering chest. I had never seen the driver before. I had always imagined who they would be. A tan man with dark hair who looked Spanish or French. However the boy who stepped out of the large car wasn't a man. He looked to be only a few years older than me. He didn't look French or Spanish but American. My breathe caught in my dry throat as his dark, captivating eyes scanned my body as if he was looking at someone familiar. Someone who he knew everything about, every secret, every kiss, every freckle, every feeling. His muscles flexed under his tight, white top and I blushed as he smirked, knowing I was staring.
"Nats?" Asher waves his large hands in front of my crimsoned face and I soon came back to reality.
"Sorry, uh, have a nice summer." I forced a smile at him as he walked away from my frozen body which felt bound to the spot in which I standing in. My eyes didn't fault as I watched him walk around to his trunk to receive a black suitcase and he swung an old satchel which was falling to pieces over his shoulder.
The wind picked up and awoke me from my daydream as he walked down the drive so he was standing on the porch of my next door neighbours. Closing the door, I step into the living room and I walk towards the window which was nearest to next door. I hid behind the thin curtains that I hold between my index and thumb, feeling goose bumps trace my skin as his gaze shifts to mine and I instantly back away to hide my figure from his view.
"Honey, what on earth are you doing?" I jump suddenly in fright as my mother stands at the door. Dressed perfectly as though important people were coming around for a cup of tea or a catch up of gossip.
"Uh-" I fidget with my boney fingers in front of me as I walk towards her, embarrassed that she had caught me.
"Natalia, don't spy on neighbours. It's rude." She angrily stalks towards me and I sink in my standing position as her long legs stand in front of the window to take a look at what I was looking at. "There's nothing even there! I do worry about you sometimes." My mother shakes her head in disapproval before walking out of the room.
Furrowing my eyebrows, I turn to look outside the window again to see nothing. He was gone. He couldn't have gone that fast. I shake my head to escape the thought of this boy being the person in the black Range Rover. He wasn't what I was expecting nor what I imagined.
