Birthday Candles and Hatred

The birthday candles seem such a waste;

For all the years pass by in haste.

Another year, a different personality;

I pray you will have a sense of morality.

The flames of the candles flickered in your eyes;

They took your joy and replaced it with fire.

You burn down the bridges left in your mind;

You chose negativity over the positive side.

Popping the balloons put up in your name;

All of the guests wish they never came.

We were all there to celebrate you;

Your appreciation is quite overdue.

The warmth you once had, replaced with ice;

This 'new you' certainly won't suffice.

Been there through all the problems you've dealt;

It's about time you let that cold heart melt.
