Everything was still, there was no movement or sound on the boat and I still could not get a proper night's sleep. I tried to sit up but there was a hold on my right hand, it was a hand. I jumped and wiggled my hand out of its grip. I grabbed a flashlight and turned it on and who I saw was not who I was expecting. Chris was lying on the floor with his hand on my bed, I rolled my eyes at him then smiled, he looks adorable when he is sleeping.
I sat for a while in the dark then there was a loud 'bump', something hit the bottom of the boat and it made me jump. There was silence for a while after, I wonder what it was? Could it be one of those infected or could it be those people following us or maybe it's just the sea life because it is the ocean after all. The commotion upstairs disrupted my thoughts, but stirred my curiosity. I shuffled off the bed-making sure not to stand on Chris-wrapped the blanket around me and tip toed out the room.
The hallway was dark but there was light eliminating the stair case, I walked quietly through the hallway and halfway up the stairs (so they could not see me).
"I'm not inclined to wait around for someone with a 50 caliber machine gun to roll up on us" Strand wined.
Gus P.O.V
I stood next Travis and we looking thorough a maintenance book, luckily I took a crash course in filtration fixing so for the first time I would not be completely useless. Unlike Winter or James I still don't have an actual purpose to be here, I'm just kind of like the scaredy cat that always needs saving and that was not me. Before all of this I knew how to survive in this type of situation (I was even prepared!), but then Winter left and when I found out what people were becoming the thought of it changed something in.
"Augustus" A voice call snapping me back to reality.
"What, yes" I impulsively said turning around to see everyone looking at me
"So you and Travis are going to see what is under the boat" Madison explain. Wait that's what I agreed to.
"Ahh w-wait" I stuttered.
"Okay so its settled" Vector said walking out the room.
I was given a scuba suit and I was told to put it on. As I started walking down to the bathroom there was a scurrying and a door closing. Are there rats on this boat too!? I made my way into the bathroom and began putting the suit on and halfway through I realized it was way too small, I l sighed; this could be the first time I've regretted working out. Once I was dressed I went out onto the main deck where Travis and Madison were waiting. I tried to avoid their eyes as best I could. Travis was the first to jump and I followed, I hit the ice cold water and I internally screamed. I struggled to swim (because most of the blood and warmth had gone to vital organs) but the more my body got used to the freezing water the easier it became. I shone a flash light while Travis searched for whatever it was that was blocking the filter but the was foggy and that made it really difficult to see. I hope there aren't any sharks here or squids or anything sea related, it just freaks me out. A white thing came towards me and the further it floated I could make out that it was a shoe. Everything seemed to slow down, we moved closer and there was a thing, Travis went close to it then motioned me to swim away
I surfaced first and climbed back onto the boat, the cold wind blew and I actually felt like I was going to die from hypothermia. Madison came over asking where Travis was and before I could say something he came up and she drew her attention to him. I wrapped my arms around my waist, to savor any heat I could, and hobbled down stairs to get dressed. Every step hurt, every little movement hurt and I actually think my blood was becoming ice. I wished that I could take a shower but there is not hot water.
