I look out onto the park from my seat on a bench, watching as innocent children laugh breathlessly and run around frantically on the play set as happy cries escaped their lips.
"Catch me mommy, catch me!" A little boy giggles as he makes his way down the slide with a squeal of laughter when the lady who I assume is his mother picks him up and cuddles him closely. She puts him back down with a stern expression on her face.
"Where's your sister? I told you to stay with her," the mother scolds to her child.
"Umm.. She went over there!" He exclaims and points in the direction of the wooded area nearby.
"Why on earth was she going there?" The mother asks in concern for her daughters safety. I visibly tense and stand almost immediately. I walk away quickly, covering my face with my head down as I leave the scene as the little boy makes his decision of why his sister disappeared.
Blond hair spread out from under the baby soft pale skin of the young girl. Her soft pink winter coat had been removed leaving her laying in the snow with only a dark pink sweater to keep her warm. Surely, it must've been too cold for such a young child..
She looked up at the sky with innocent blue eyes, unmoving, even as the crystal of a snowflake gently landed on the pupil of her eye..
But that wasn't the full picture.
The dark pink sweater was darker in places then it naturally should've been, red liquid seeping out and tainting the once pure white snow a sickly red. If you were to lift up the girls sweater, you would find multiple gashses and cuts along her stomach and chest area.
But what was most sickening was what lay over her chest.
A delicate heart shape was carved into her skin like a scar, right on top of where her heart should really be. Around it, tiny frozen flowers littered her skin, giving the girl the gruesome scent of roses mixed with blood.
The girl had already been dead. That was clear as she made no noise. Made no shiver as the snow began to cover her quickly bluing fingers and toes. Her head hung off her neck at a sickly angle making that assumption clear.
The stabbing and thrashing done to her abused body had been purely for my own amusement..
I heard the ear piercing scream of the mother in the woods.
I bolt up in awareness and have to cover a hand over my mouth to avoid screaming.
Breathless gasps escape my lips as I look around my too quiet room.
My eyes widen the second I comprehend what I've done. I couldn't stand knowing children were ever involved.. Just like Sadie, I panic suddenly.
The thought made tears prick my eyes. They stung as they run down my cheeks and my vocal cords feel strained. I hadn't realized I had been screaming until my throat burned in protest of my sudden breakdown.
I fall back asleep, or pretty much pass out eventually, throat sore from screaming and eyes clouded from tears.
When I wake up again I almost instantly realize I'm not in my bedroom. I look around find myself present in a dark room, tinted red and covered with mist. I'm in what seems to look like a grand luxury house, with high walls and furnished rooms, but with a slight twist to it.
Where a normal living room would have simple things like couches or curtains that tie the room together, this room had antique figures and skulls of odd creatures and animals scattered throughout the place. A normal cozy rug had been replaced with a dark material that seemed to be singed slightly, smoking and spreading ash on the surrounding polished wooden floor.
