I woke up and stretched, then clambered out of the wood carved bed. Rhaine, my aunt, sleeps peacefully on the other side of the room, our only room. We live in the simplest cottage possible, one room, two beds, a table with four chairs, an oven with a chimney, and small closets for our clothing. The walls are lined with baskets of fresh produce near the oven, I take an apple and walk out onto the small porch and sit down on the edge, my feet dangling, just barely touching the wildflowers which tickle my toes. I smile, looking out at the woods across the field, the leaves and pine needles make me smile at the different green shades of color.

I blink in surprise, noticing among the brown trunks was a bright yellow spot, however it was very small so I thought it was simply another wildflower that managed to grow in the shade. I bit the apple and looked up at the cloudless blue sky, it was almost a pastel blue at this time, which meant Rhaine would be waking up soon. As if on cue I heard a yawn from the inside of the house.

"Lorelai! Where are you?"

"Outside Auntie!" I called scrambling back up and going inside, I didn't notice the yellow spot had vanished. That was my first time seeing an elf, even if I didn't know it at the time.
