Moment's after I entered Cartentown again, Master Jax walked up to me looking slightly tired.
"Hello again Lorel, I would've thought frequent visitation wouldn't be your thing." He says smirking,
"Oh no I'm just selling these skins then heading home, I'm used to this, ever since I was small I've been walking back and forth on that road, I'm surprised there isn't a rut in it." I smiled and laughed then sighed, "Want one? Only 3 Gol-bes."
"3 Gol-bes? Little expensive don't you think?"
"Well we have to make the money somehow, I can cut the price to 1G."
"Let's make it 2G and I'll take both."
"Nope gotta make it at least 5G for both."
"5G?! Hardly fair... I'll take one for 2G."
"Good choice Master Jax." I said as he handed the Gol-bes to me. They're older ones by the dark coppery gold color instead of the bright gold from more recent. I pulled one of the skins loose and handed it to him.
"Now I see why these are 3 Gol-bes, they're very soft. They smell nice too." He sniffed the skin and I bit my lip to keep from laughing.
"Rhaine's work." I said as he took another breath, smelling it again. "I'll see you tomorrow Master Jax."
"Sure thing Lorel." He said as I walked away.
I started calling out my sell once and awhile, much like the stall keepers. Our currency is a bit strange, it begins with pure copper coins, new ones brown, the older, green. These are called Cop-thi, pronounced cope thee and are lowest in value. Apparently there was one that was even lower called Bro-bad, made of bronze but they became worth nothing after a while so they dropped it. Coin collectors go nuts over those though in all irony. Anyway, next up from Cop-thi is Sil-nic, made of silver, and pronounced sill nick. Older Sil-nic are more black than the shiny silver. 25 Cop-thi equals a single Sil-nic. Supposedly there was one in between made of nickel, Nic-mid which equals 5 Cop-thi so... 5 Nic-mid to a Sil-nic. Again, coin collectors are crazy for those. Finally there's Gol-bes, as mentioned earlier older ones are coppery, new are gold. These coins are our most expensive in currency and pronounced goal bess. It takes 15 Sil-nic to equal one Gol-bes.
In simplified but old terms... 50 Bro-bad= 1 Cop-thi, 5 Cop-thi= 1 Nic-mid, 5 Nic-mid= 1 Sil-nic, 15 Sil-nic= 1 Gol-bes.
Now... 25 Cop-thi= 1 Sil-nic, 15 Sil-nic= 1 Gol-bes.
"3 Gol-bes! Only 3 Gol-bes for a new rabbit skin!" I shouted one last time before looking at the sky, I'd need to be heading back soon.
I sighed softly, if I didn't sell these I'd get scolded. I was about to turn around to go home when I felt a tug near my calf. I looked down and smiled a little as a small boy stared up at me. I knelt down so I didn't seem as terrifying as I probably did standing up.
"What is it child?" I ask kindly and his soft doe colored eyes drift to the rabbit skin, I chuckle. "You want one? I'll make a bargain with your family, where are they?"
The child's entire being lit up and he tried pulling me somewhere. I stand up quickly before I fall over by his pulling and lift him up. "This will be better, point to them. I'll follow." I said softly.
The little boy scanned around before pointing at a panicked couple, seems he wandered off when he saw me.
"John! John! Where are you?!" The lady called and I walked over, she spotted him in my arms and tears came upon her face. Her voice was vaguely familiar, I swear I heard it before.
