He took out his pen and journal. His favorite pastime is drawing. He kept on sketching her. She was in his dreams every night. The forest behind his house is where she spent her quiet time. She rarely talked. He often smiled at her, but she'd just duck her head and murmur a greeting. One night at midnight, he heard a noise. Not a noise, but a voice. Like magic, he got up and followed it into the forest. He saw her there singing her heart out. She couldn't hear him over the beauty that flowed through her lips. When she stopped, she turned around to see him staring at her. Her mouth was open.
"Did you just hear me sing?" she gasped.
"Umm. . . Yeah, sort of." he looked away. She ran through the trees.
"Wait!" he ran after her. She stopped in front of the Orphanage. She ran inside and locked the door behind her.
"Dammit!" he swore as he walked home, in the gathering darkness.

School started for him and he often wondered if she'd be in any of his classes. His first class was Biology.
"Hello! My name is Bryn Everton." a blond girl with a sun hat twirled her curls. Her dress was black and white.
"Hello." he said.
"Are you looking for someone?"
" Yes. Acually her name is Cladia Porvallo." he said. She huffed,
"Why would you want a freak like her when you can have. . . someone else. " she motioned to her lady parts. He was momentarily hypnotized. He looked away, seeing how wrong it was for her to talk shit about his dad's dead coworker's daughter.
"Actually, she's not a freak. Now if you excuse me." He walked to his seat. She sat next to him. "Class, pick your seats wisely. Because you'll be there for the rest of the year." his heart thudded unnaturally fast. She was going to be sitting by him for the rest of the year. He silently celebrated as he smelled her blueberry conditioner. For the next four classes, she sat by him. At lunch he saw Cladia sitting alone. He walked over to her and sat down.
"You shouldn't be here." she whispered.
"Do you know who I am?" She returned it with a soft laugh. He noticed she had straight white teeth.
"Everyone in the school knows. They also know the reason." she replied curtly. The bell rang, she got up to leave and he stopped her.
"My parents will want to see you tonight to make sure you're okay. At 7:00 is that good?" Her red lips in a straight line.
"Fine." she hurried to her next class. At 7:00, they met up as promised. Her heart was beating so fast, she had never been near a boy that didn't call her a freak. Instead he smiled politely. All he thought about was Bryn Everton and her curves. Mr. Hainer asked. She was picking at her food, "I'm. . . .fine." she forced out a blatant lie.
"I haven't seen you since you were a baby! You're so grown up. You look so much like your father." Mrs. Hainer sipped her tea. Cladia was in mid swallow when she spit out her own tea. Cladia's eyes were full of tears and her amber eyes were dark with sorrow.
"I'm sorry Mr. and Mrs. Hainer, but I have to go." she leaped out of her chair gracefully and bolted to the door.
"I'll walk you." Ian said.
"I'll be fine, thank you." she said again and she left.
"Did I say something wrong?" Ian gave his mother a hard look before heading out to catch up to Cladia. When he ran into the driveway, it was empty.
