Intrigue

Why did the folk flee from him?

And why did they resort to her for help?

Why did they escape from its depth,

yet plunge in her own mystery?

She was darkness and he was the brightest light

Curiosity

Because he wasn't loved like her

Because his being spelt utter destruction

While she was the healer of a broken spirit

Mystique

Because she couldn't dance like him.

She watched him from the banks of a lonely river

His limbs tangling through the sky

into a cloud of black smoke

He was beauty

And she could only remain as flat as a mirror

Untouchable

She could not be touched

Because that would mean the end of their cycle of existence.

But he longed for it with a passion

that led him to dismantle canopies of trees

and kill the small creatures that squeaked at his approach.

Yet she remained, as flat as a mirror.

And thus he could see his reflection in her.

And it caused an endless question;

how could he see himself

in something that was so markedly different to him?

I complete him

The deadly thought

And she dared

Foolish

To brush

against his burning existence

Cold against hot

As she spread along the banks of her river

Rage subsided.

The feeling of complete peace before ones doom.

Time was dysfunctional

as his limbs crashed down.

She lapped up against him;

everything he longed to be.

And he realised as fire turned to smoke,

and smoke crumpled to ash,

she completed him

and thus he saw himself

And she realised as fire turned to smoke

and smoke turned to ash,

he completed her

and she destroyed him.

Oblivion
