I awoke 15 minutes before my first alarm sounded. I wanted to go back to bed but my excitement and nervousness wouldn't let me. I rolled out of bed and headed to the bathroom. I turned on the shower and decided to take a cold shower maybe that would help. It wasn't a big help but it was still something. I changed into my favorite blue jeans and a simple black t-shirt. I did my makeup, leaving out the eyeliner because my hands wouldn't stop shaking. After my makeup was done, I applied mousse in my hair so it wouldn't be frizzy. I walked down the hall into the kitchen and saw my mom sitting in the table with a cup of coffee.

"Morning" I say as I pour a cup of coffee into my cup. “Morning to you too" she replies. I join my mom and sit across from her, enjoying the morning quietness.

As soon as I’m done with breakfast my mom begins to go over the check list with me.

Passport & Visa √

Bathroom Utilities √

Clothes √

The list goes on and on. When we finally have everything ready, she says "Okay. Ready?". I nod, a lump starting to form in my throat. I couldn't believe this was happening; I was leaving my mother for the longest time in my 19 years. Even though I was nervous about leaving, I was excited to start a new life. Far away from this place I called home.

The drive to the airport is silent, too silent, and even for my liking. I look over to my mom and see her focus on the road. I turn and look at the town I grew up in for the last time.

When we reach the airport, I get my luggage out of the car and my mom follows me in, still keeping silent. I check in and go through security before I know it I’m in the waiting room. My mom finally speaks “I thought by now you would have realized how silly you're being.” A small gasp escapes from me and then I look at her harshly. Yeah me and my mom were close, she was the only family I had, but that still didn't mean we agreed on everything. “Well you were wrong. Even if you think it’s silly, it means a lot to me of being accepted into one of the top colleges" I whisper yell at her. Even if it means I have to live in England I add mentally.

She frowns but then her face softens and she tells me “I know how important this is to you, but I will miss you at home and knowing that you're at least in the same country as me.” I smile a bit and I assure her that I will phone as often as I can and Skype with her. “And I'll be back for Christmas “I tell her. She smiles and hugs me one last time. "Well I have to go work now" she says. I can feel my eyes watery and I can't speak, so I nod instead. I watch as she goes further and eventually I can't see her anymore.

15 minutes later we begin boarding the plane. This is it, I say to myself. I find my seat and am glad to see that I don't have to share with a stranger for 10 hours on the plane. As soon as it’s okay to turn on electronics I take out my IPod and earphones and put shuffle on. Miss Moving On by Fifth Harmony on and I tap my fingers to the beat. Its still early in the morning so I decide to take a nap while aboard. I fall asleep almost immediately.
