"For me bad dreams are no more than memories, burned into our hearts."

I woke up from the nightmare exhausted and weary. The hard, lumpy mattress made my back ache forcing me to get up and stretch. I let my body contort and stretch until I was able to get up and move.

I thought back to my dream sighing. It had been 8 years since then and I was still miserable. I laughed to myself thinking about how that theatre didn't even last a day after they burned it to the ground. They tracked my teleportation leading them to our location. Me and my sister managed to escape and have kept running ever since.

We limit the use of our powers, so they don't track us but it happens occasionally. Right now we're living in this seedy motel on the outskirts of the city. We managed to get some fake birth certificates from this guy named Jack in the black market. He died a day later of natural causes "supposedly."

However since then, we have managed to stay in this motel for 3 months. I even managed to get sapphire into Lexington Prep school, for the young and gifted. After explaining her theory about dark matter they were so excited to let her in with a full scholarship.

However our bags are packed and ready at the door in case they find us forcing us to leave yet again. "Perhaps this time will be different." My sister chimed In reading my mind.

Startled I jumped back tripping over my shoes and landing on to the bed letting out a small cry. A strand of my dyed black hair fell into my face. I blew it out of my face staring up at my jubilant sister.

"You scared me!" I yelled jokingly.

"Sorry" My sister smiled a shy smile at me continuing, "Just letting you know I'm off to school sis!"

I smiled and nodded as she bounded out of the room skipping in her blue prep skirt and white blouse. Her long blonde curly dyed hair waved behind her in a swaying motion as she left. Getting up I took off my second hand pajamas and went into my closet grabbing a black dress and black heels. I struggled into the short black dress that exaggerated my curves and slid my heels on.

I went into the bathroom smothering my face in the glorified makeup they advertise on the street signs. After I finished applying it, I looked into the mirror as my eyes reflected the dim light of hanging light bulb.

Black eyeliner made the green eyes pop as the gold eyeshadow made the golden specks in my green eyes come out more. My once brown hair was dyed a deep shade of black, however the dye was wearing off leaving lighter brown streaks.

I turned around saddened as the once natural beauty I emanated was replaced with the manufactured beauty of plastered makeup and tainted dyes. It was just another sacrifice I supose.

I went over to the nightstand grabbing my purse and walked to the door. On my way over I felt water drop on my head. I looked up to see the roof leaking as the once dirty white ceiling had a tan water spot that began dripping water.

I ran over to the nightstand grabbing a sticky note that said, "apartment 2A needs ceiling repairs."

I walked out of the door slamming it shut, to make sure it closed. I walked over to the Landlord's office slipping the note under the door. I walked out to the road where the bus stop was and waited. After a couple of minutes it arrived pulling to a squealing stop.

The chrome colored bus had a screen on its side advertising some sort of energy drink with bright colors as they danced on the screen. The destination read: next stop, City Plaza. I climbed up the bus steps seeing the old silver haired bus driver stare daggers at me. He looked at me with a condoning eyes as I sat down in the leathery red seats.
