The day passed slowly as Athena awaited text from Spencer. Wiping the counters, Athena felt her phone buzz it her pocket. Setting down the rag she pulled out her phone and opened the text.
Hey A, we'll be at the pizza place to pick you up in ten minutes. We'll see you then. -S
Smiling she untied the apron from her waist and looked at her boss who was sitting on the opposite side of the bar, talking with the restaurant business accountant. Athena hovered around them, waiting for the best time to tell her boss that she would be leaving. A few minutes passed as she stood there, listening to the two men talk about money and taxes before her boss looked at her with his eyebrows raised.
"Is there something you need darling?" Her boss asked. Athena smiled at him.
"My friends will be here any moment and you told me to tell you that I'm leaving before I go, so this is me telling you I'm about to leave." Athena's boss nodded.
"That's fine. Go have fun. Are you coming in tomorrow?" He asked, looking at the calender hanging on the wall.
"Yes sir! I'll be here at 12!" Athena chirped as her phone buzzed in her pocket. Knowing it was Spencer she glanced over her shoulder to see his jeep sitting in front of the restaurant. "That's my friends so I have to go, but I'll see you tomorrow!" Athena said as she retrieved her purse and walked towards the front door. Saying goodbye to the few locals that came in weekly she opened the door, the bell tinkling as she stepped across the threashold. Stepping outside she noticed Spencer leaning up against the car, playing on his phone.
"Hey," Athena said, catching Spencer's attention. Spencer looked up at her, a smile playing at his lips.
"Hey!"
"Where's Rachel and Roman?" Athena asked, taking a step towards the empty car. Spencer open the passenger side door for her, helping her into the lifted jeep.
"They said they'd meet us at the movie theater. Something about Rachel's car breaking down," Spencer said as Athena settled into the seat. Athena looked at Spencer, both eyebrows raised. "I'm not making this up, I promise," He swore, placing his hand on Athena's thigh.
Athena smiled softly, covering his hands with her. "I know. I trust you." Time slowed as the cliche moment enveloped her; the couple staring into each others eyes with nothing but chemistry between them. The lights flickered inside the restaurant, drawing Athena's attention from Spencer to inside where she saw Brandon standing behind the counter, watching with a big smile on his face. Their eyes connecting, Brandon gave Athena a thumbs up and an air high five. Rolling her eyes, Athena patted Spencers hand that was still placed on her thigh. "Maybe we should get going?"
Spencer coughed, stepping back. "Yeah."
~!~
Once arriving at the movie theater, Spencer and Athena went through the process of Athena and Spencer fighting over who was going to buy what, Athena ended up with a free movie and popcorn.
"I'm going to get you back for this," She hissed, throwing popcorn at him as they walked into the movie theater. Spencer easily caught the pieces in his mouth, smirking in triumph. "Show off." Spencer nudged her as they entered the theater.
"Where are we supposed to sit?" Spencer whispered, eyeing the almost empty theater.
"Anywhere I guess," Athena said with a shrug. The two made their way all the way to the top of the theater, sitting in the center.
As the previews flashed across the screen, Athena and Spencer sat and bickered about topics that made no difference in their lives whatsoever.
"You mean to tell me, that you thing the Hulk is more important then Iron Man?" Spencer practically yelled. Athena rolled her eyes, tossing popcorn into her mouth.
