We start falling downwards and soon we land on soft ground. I look around me and realise that I'm on a thick layer of snow. The hole from which we fell is so high up it is impossible for us to get out from here by that hole.
Patrick says, "Woah. Look around you." I see pine trees all around me and the floor beneath me is layer after layer of snow. But it is obvious that we are still in a cave as the side of the walls are stone and the ceiling is also brown stone. There is absolutely no sign of animals or other tributes here. We cautiously walk towards the south direction, afraid of what this winter wonderland may hide. Soon, the sound of cannons fill the air. 10 dead. 14 left to fight.
We have no idea what time of the day it is but since both of us are tired, we decide to rest. We climb up an especially sturdy pine tree and take refuge on a huge sturdy trunk. I take advantage of the time I have to open my pouch. Inside, I find a few plasters, a torchlight and a penknife. Patrick's backpack holds a sweater which will be useful, two small planks of wood, crackers, and a bottle of water.
We each take a sip of water from my bottle of water first. Then we eat a cracker each. We are about to fall asleep when suddenly, we hear a shrill cry from behind.
We turn around, only to see the girl from eight falling to the ground. A greg bird that looks like a crow but has teeth sharper than a tiger has bit her arm, and then her stomach. The wounds look terribly deep and severe. The bird, having harmed the girl, turns around and sees two perfect targets. Me and Patrick.
"MUTTS! get your weapons ready!" Patrick orders. I get my penknife out and we both start down the tree when the bird comes diving at Patrick. I swing my penknife and successfully cut of one of one of its weak legs. It stops for a moment then proceeds to drive its teeth into Patrick's hand when Patrick shoves his knife into the bird's mouth then quickly takes it out and slices the bird's neck. The bird falls to the ground, dead and a cannon boom is heard to signify the death of the girl from eight. Part of The stone ceiling opens up and the girl's body is retrieved by a metal retriever from a hovercraft above. We are relieved as this means we can still receive sponsor gifts.
It seems like this place is more dangerous than it seems. We decide to stay in the same tree, because different areas hold more dangers.
The next day, we walk along the winter wonderland. Patrick kills a fox and we use the wood in Patrick's bag to start a fire to cook it.
Just after we finished some of our food and kept the rest for later, i hear footsteps behind me. It is the girl from six. My first instinct is to kill. I grab Patrick's knife and try to stab her stomach but she moves aside just in time. I grab her legs and trip her then pin her to the ground and stab her stomach. As she is dying, she whispers, "I was going to warn you."
I whip my head around. Patrick is coming for me with my penknife, ready to kill.
