THE 31st HUNGER GAMES

Chapter 10

Last chapters ending:

i am at a tombstone in the rose garden. Roses decorate the tombstone and there is a creepy aura to the whole place. Fear creeps into my heart. This feels like a horror movie. Just then, I hear an eerie howl and a scream pierces the air.

I shriek and come face to face with the boy from one. I grab my knife and prepare for a fight. He delivers an unexpected punch to my right cheek but I cut into his calf muscle. Groaning, he tries to cut into my chest with his sword but I use my knife to cut into his left arm. All the training I did paid off.

Just then, the other career tributes come running towards us and I flee, not wanting to tackle all of them. I run deeper into the eery place, leaving the tombstone behind.

It is dark and I cannot see a thing, but my right cheek still hurts. I sip some water and eat a cracker. I need to find a source of water and I need food.

Just then, I hear rustling next to me. I look to my left immediately, and see the fourteen year old boy from eleven. He is holding a huge cooked chicken, most likely hunted down himself. I whip out my knife, but then he says," STOP! I come in peace. I just need some water. In return, you can have the chicken."

Desperate for fresh food like the chicken, I agree and I decide to agree. He takes four tiny sips but I finish the whole chicken. Then, he runs off into the darkness. I rub my tummy in joy when suddenly, I feel bile rising in my throat, and I have a sudden stomach ache. the pain in my stomach is horrendous. Something is wrong.

I crawl further and grasping a tree, I climb up, moaning in agony. I clutch my supplies in one hand once i find a branch to lie on, and my stomach in another hand. Thats when my stomach churns even worse and i know this is a bad case of food poisoning.

Whether this is the boy's evil plan or my bad luck, i do not know. I only know that with such a bad case of food poisoning, i have turned into vulnerable prey.

At this helpless moment, i look above, only to see a nest of eggs that look potentially vicious. No doubt the parents of these eggs will return soon, and I will be done for.
