What it's Like Dead

Congratulations
You made your parents
cry
Your grandma drowned in
tears
You best friends life was only
eighteen years

No one was happier
Everyone felt at blame
The shame carried
by all those who had hurt you
Was indescribable
The world had never seen so much
Rain

Does leaving a note bring more sorrow?
Is your family's pain
From your absence
Close
To that of
The blades
That drew upon your arms

It's never you anymore
When you die
Especially if it's you
Who inflicts it
The you
Who was happier
Who was alive inside
Died long ago
Living as a shell
Of the old you
Didn't seem so hard
At first
But emptiness;
It always
Takes
Over

Being destroyed by yourself;
What a way to go
