Running

With your feet slapping the pavement,

Breath and heart, out of time.

No matter how far you go,

No matter where you end up,

You can never change where you're from,

And you can never out run your shadow.

A shadow,

less company,

more haunting.

A reminder that the past,

Will always stay,

only a step behind you.

But each breath,

There to remind you,

You've made it this far.

And though you can't change those things,

your shadow, your breath,

The end isn't what's coming,

It's just the next step.
