My eyes flutter open to sunshine hitting my eyes through a crack in my curtains. I roll over to find Andy gone. How did I not wake up? Dani is gone too. Answering my thoughts I hear laughter in the hallway and a key unlocking the door. I lift my blanket up to my eyes as the door opens. In walk Dani and Andy with bags of food. I squint and curl into a ball as they turn on the room light. "Oh. She's awake." Dani says. I look at Andy who has his sunglasses on again, looking to be his usual grumpy self. "We got you some food." Dani says with a smile. It makes me smile to see her so happy and cheerful. "Thanks." I croak while rubbing my eyes, sure that I look like some sort of bear that just came out of hibernation. "I have to go to the gym." I say while opening the home screen of my phone to see the time. It's still early which is good. I have to go meet my personal trainer before noon. Dani hands me a box with a plastic fork and I nod in thanks. I open it up to see a giant waffle covered in syrup. I breathe in the yummy scent and take a bite. It melts on my tongue. "This is so good." I say happily. "Andy got it from a little café downtown. I just waited in the car." Dani confesses with a small laugh. "Thank you." I look up at Andy and he doesn't seem to be paying attention. I feel bad that I fell asleep. Maybe he's mad at me because of that? Andy and Dani begin to talk about old times at parties as I finish my waffle. I throw away the, now empty, box and move to my dresser to grab my yoga pants and a tank top.
After changing in the bathroom and applying some makeup, I step out and grab my things as Dani and Andy continue their conversation. "Leaving?" Andy asks. "Yeah. I'll be back in about an hour and a half." I say. I open the door and slip out. I call Will, my personal trainer, to let him know I'm on my way. I hop in my car and turn on some good music to get myself pumped up for my workout. Will usually pushes me really hard. Plus, graduation is coming up soon so I need to be decently fit, even though everyone already tells me I am. It's strange because it's like all of my weight goes to my hips and my stomach and nowhere else, causing me to work extra hard to keep my abs up. I arrive shorty and Will is already waitining for me at the door. "Good morning." I smile as I get out of my car. "Good morning, Scarlet." He smiles back charmingly. He holds the door open for me and I step inside.
I set my things down and he leads me to the treadmills. I start to run and he stands next to me. "So how are things?" He asks. His green eyes glitter in the light and his blonde hair falls over his eyebrows, side swept and wavy. He reminds me of a surfer. "Good. You?" I reply shortly. "Good." He nods. Last time we talked, his mom passed away, so I hope he is recovering well. After finishing running, we do a few more activities to strengthen my legs and then we move on to my core. He lays me down on an exercise mat near the window of the gym. He turns on some music for me and holds down my feet. "How long?" I ask him. "Seven minutes." He smiles. I huff, "You're joking right?" He shakes his head and I groan. He laughs, "Lay down. The faster you start seven minutes, the faster it will be over." I start to do crunches as Will looks out of the window. A minute or so, what seemed like eternity, passed by and I whined. "Come on now, Scarlet." He says with a short laugh. He looks back out of the window. A few seconds later, he flicks his chin to the direction of the parking lot. "Do you know that gentleman?" I look to the side to see Andy's white Lexus parked right at the window. He has his glasses on and one hand on the steering wheel. You're kidding...?
"Um... Yes..." I say while turning back to Will. "Does he normally watch you work out?" He asks while lifting an eyebrow with a goofy smile. "No." I laugh. "Who is it?" He asks again curiously. I laugh quietly. "One of my friends." "Ah..." He says teasingly, "a friend. Your friend seems quite interested." "Shut up." I laugh and he laughs too. "He is a friend." Because I'm pretty sure he's too 'cool' to date. "Mhm, I bet." He wiggles his eyebrows goofily and I can't help but stop doing my crunches and just laugh. "That's 15 extra seconds." Will says. I groan again and keep going. "Of course it is." "Hey, you know I'm a hard trainer." He says seriously. "You're the one cracking jokes!" I exclaim with a laugh. He nods in agreement, "15 seconds less." "Yeah, that's what I thought."
"Nice job today. Your body is looking great." Will compliments as I grab a towel from the back room. I blush, "Thanks. I can thank my very serious trainer." He rolls his eyes playfully. We exchange our goodbyes and I walk out of the door. Andy's Lexus is still parked in the same spot. I walk over to the car and stand outside the window, having to tap on it in order for him to roll it down.
