I throw the rocks at the pond, watching them skip two or three then falling to the bottom of the lake. I remember spending time at this lake with my wife and my daughter. My little girl first learning how to swim, how terrified she was. I remember my wife watching, looking beautiful as always. The day she finally went under, she came right up, hair in her face, and she puffed air out of her mouth, and put her hands on her hips.

"I told you I could do it." She says, waddling out of the water. I laugh, picking her up. She squirms and laughs at the same time.

"Oh really, buttercup?" I question her, throwing her over my shoulder.

"Damian!" Kora laughs, causing me to wink at her. "Damian!"

"Damian!" I hear a deep voice, awakening me from my daydream. I turn, and see Sebastian standing there, with a scratch down his neck. He is panting, slouched over with his head down. I rise from the dusty dirt, and roll the rock in my hand, reliving my panic slowly.

"What'd you do?" I ask, inching towards him.

"Lillian...she...she..." My heart speeds up when he says her name.

"What happened?!" I question again, feeling my stomach roll over.

"Sam...he got her..."

I feel the rock slowly leave my palm. I think of Sam, coming and ruining my life the first time. We were sitting, reading a book to Meredith with Kora cuddling with me. Meredith insisted on sleeping on the couch, like always, and I calmly read the book to her. She was about to fall asleep, when screaming began outside. Kora and I turn, and we see people running outside with horror written all over their face.

"Daddy, what's going on?" I hear Meredith cry, and I turn seeing her with a pouty face on. I pick her up, and rub her back.

"It's okay sweet pea. It's probably people just playing outside." Kora answers her, looking at me with an unsure look in her eyes.

"Both of you go lay down in the bedroom," I give over Meredith to Kora, "I'll be back when I figure out what the hell is going on."

Little did I know that'd be the last time I'd see my wife and my daughter ever again. Alive at least. Thinking about them makes my heart stop, and it makes me choke up, but my skin begins to inch at the sound of Sam.
"We have to go get Lillian." I state, making my way back towards the village. Sebastian grabs my arm, and shakes his head. What is this dumb ass thinking?

"I know you want to get her back right away, Damian," He explains, "but we have to go in safe and not in the spur of the moment. That could get her killed."

I nod, realizing he's right. If I'm going to save her, I have to do it so no one else will get hurt in the process. I hope it's soon though, because if not, I don't think I could live with the idea of losing Lillian forever.
