Swiftpaw walked to the fresh kill pile, picked up a squirrel, and walked to the apprentices den. He sat by the stump and started ripping ravenously into his meal. Within a few bites the squirrel was gone. Swiftpaw walked into the apprentice den just in time to hear Cloudpaw brag about his assessment tomorrow. Swiftpaw didn't think that the white apprentice was even capable of stalking a mouse! how does Bluestar think he's ready for his assessment! Cloudpaw was even younger than him. What is Bluestar thinking? That was the last question Swiftpaw asked himself before sleep flooded over him.

°°°

Brightpaw awoke to the sound of Bluestar's summons. Brightpaw knew that it was Cloudpaws warrior ceremony. She got out of her nest and went to sit by the other apprentices. "I, Bluestar, leader of ThunderClan, call upon my warrior ancestors to look down on this apprentice. He has trained hard to understand the ways of your noble code, and I commend him to you as a warrior in his turn. Cloudpaw, do you promise to uphold the warrior code and to protect and defend your Clan, even at the cost of your life?" Bluestar meowed

"I do." responded Cloudpaw

"Then by the powers of StarClan, I give you your warrior name. Cloudpaw, from this moment you will be known as Cloudtail. StarClan honors your courage and independence, and we welcome you as a full warrior of ThunderClan." Bluestar touched her chin to his head and he gave her a respectful lick on the shoulder.

"CLOUDTAIL!CLOUDTAIL!" Brightpaw cheers as enthusiastic as she can.

°°°

Swiftpaw turned and walked towards the gorse tunnel enraged at Cloudtail being a warrior. The thought of him makes him want to do anything to become a warrior. Swiftpaw veers away from snakerocks when an idea comes to him. What if I drive off whatever is living at snakerocks? Then that way bluestar would have to make him a warrior! He decides that he will ask the other apprentices if they want to come with, even if none of the others want to help him, he will still go.
