I'm at my aunt and uncle's house. I see the familiar faces of my cousin Rachel and Becca. Because Becca is getting older she doesn't like to talk that much which is easy to understand. So me and Rachel race to Rachel's room and start talking.
She's out of breath and takes large gasps in-between her words. "So...how...have...you...been?"
"Great, all of my horses are fine and my dogs are okay so yeah," I say in my eight year old childish voice. Rachel's voice sounded the same as mine, but when she finally caught her breath she told me that she wasn't doing as well as I am. She told me about her parents fighting when I protest that they love each other and that they would never, but she explained it to me with such detail it had to be true. She also explains to me that she saw her mom smoking and drinking a lot more than her dad did and that's what caused the fights between them.I open my eyes to the noise of my alarm clock. My eyes are burning from crying in my sleep. I wipe my face and start getting ready for school.
...
The classes weren't as bad as I thought they were going to be. With all Pre-AP classes, I had it pretty laid back.
It is finally lunch and I sit down at the same empty table as yesterday. Xavier sits down with a book in his hands, not giving me any sort of attention. If this was his tactic for me to talk to him, it was working quite well until he set down his book and opened his mouth.
"Ok, let me guess...you just moved here from the countryside and you barely had any friends at your old school so why bother making some here. Am I correct?" He says with the same smirk as that other weirdo that bothered me yesterday. I say nothing, only scoot away from him as he scooted closer. Eventually he scooted me off the table. He laughed for a moment the said,"Want some help?"
I replied quite cruelly,"Why would I want help from you?!"
After that remark, I storm out of the lunchroom leaving him stunned with rumors buzzing around the room. I realized that I didn't understand the layout of this school very well when I got lost looking for my locker. That Xavier kid rounded the corner.
He can't be that stupid to follow me, I thought to myself.
As he approached me, he said, "Ahh, look who we have here! Little miss 'quiet pants' herself!"
"If you know what's good for you, you would turn back now," I say clutching my fist into a ball. He smiles and I start walking away. He stays there for some reason, then I realized I'm still lost.
I stop walking and slowly turn around to see him blowing on his nails and wiping them on his shirt like he had just gotten a manicure.
"Alright doofus, point me in me direction of the 400 hall!"
"Now I can't do that missy," he says with the same smirk as before,"you will just have to follow me."
"Why should I walk with you?!"
"Because you don't have a choice, and I wouldn't mind hanging around with a beautiful girl such as yourself."
"HA. HA. Very funny, just hurry up already!"
I was already peeved at the stunt he pulled at lunch, but this too? This guy has a death wish! We finally arrive in the 400 hall and I had made the mistake of not punching his face, for he said this:"I'm sad to inform you that we have not been properly introduced, my name is Xavier Daniels. And you are-"
"Better left unsaid." I cut him off but before he could speak again, the bell rang. Lifesaver. It was then when he finally walked away. But only after adding the sly comment,"Hope I see you tomorrow!"
It made me sick to my stomach, but I ignored it and headed for my next class.
