I opened my eyes to see my arm in a cast and my leg covered in bandages. I couldn't remember anything and when I tried to remember, I felt a severe pain in my head. I didn't notice until now who was asleep in a chair beside my hospital bed-Xavier. He was snoring quietly. I could hear my parents arguing outside the room so I sat up. They came in, hugging and holding me. They said I had been hit by a car but I didn't remember it. All I remember is getting ready for prom. Xavier woke up once my parents left the room to go get a doctor.
"Y-You're awake," he said in a loud whisper. I looked at him for a moment. I remembered when he asked me to prom. I didn't say anything but I could feel myself turning red. He looked so confused and opened his mouth to speak when the doctor came in.
"Well miss Danica, how are you feeling," the doctor asked kindly. "Ok, I guess," I reply. "I'll give it to you straight, you've broke your arm, sprained your wrist, twisted your ankle, and you have a mild concussion. Now, what I want to know is what you remember about that night," the docter said while glaring at Xavier. I look at Xavier. He was apparently really nervous but I didn't know why. I turned back to face the doctor and said,"The last thing that I remember was getting ready for prom." He gave me a surprised look and said,"Are you sure that's all you can remember?" I nod and glance back at Xavier, who was still neverous. The doctor looks down and leaves the room to talk to my parents. I open my mouth to speak when Xavier says,"I'm so sorry! I did this to you! If you were killed, I wouldn't be able to live with myself!" I was shocked and confused at his statement. "What are you talking about? All I can remember is seeing you in your suit, giving me that rose," I say, feeling slightly more uncomfortable. He looked at me and sighed with relief. I looked down at my arm and realized something was missing. "Wha-WHERE IS MY BRACELET," I yell, in a panic. "I don't know what they did with it," Xavier said calmly. I tried to get up to look for it but I was so weak I could barely sit up. "You HAVE to find it! Please! I'll do anything," I begged. Before Xavier could say anything, Rachel walked into the room. She looked at me with tears in her eyes. I was so confused when she said,"I'm sorry Danica. I'm sorry!" She looked down as tears trickled down her face. I lifted my arm and put it on her shoulder. "I'm going to be fine," I said, still confused. "I know that! I just can't believe you forgave me," she said. I looked at her then Xavier, and back to her. Something wasn't right. "What do you mean 'forgave' you? What do I need to forgive you for," I say, slightly raising my voice. Rachel looked at Xavier with surprise then turned to face me. "Y-You don't remember," she asked. I grew even angrier at her comment. What had I forgotten that they would apologize for? "Don't remember what," I shout. A nurse suddenly stepped into the room and said,"You both need to leave! Danica needs plenty of rest if she wants to be able walk soon!" They nodded and left the room. I could see them arguing through the window of the hospital room. I feel a sharp pain go through my arm as the nurse's needle pierced my skin. I turn to her and ask,"Where is the bracelet that I was wearing?" She looked up from her work and replied,"I think your parents have it, but I'll check in your box for you." I say my thanks and try to get some rest. The nurse was right. If I wanted to walk as soon as possible, I will need a lot of rest.
