More than Friends

Prom is next week and I don't know what to do. I heard that it would be fun, but you can't go alone. Not unless you want to be a social outcast. But that's beside the point, I have no one to go with and Ash wouldn't go to save her life. Rachel is going with her boyfriend, Jackson, and Hails can't go because she will be out of town. Me and her have gotten really close ever since my birthday.
Xavier has been avoiding me for like three days. Now that I think about it, he hasn't spoke to me since prom was announced. I thought nothing of it because I thought he had already asked someone else and it would be awkward to tell me, his close-friend-who-is-a-girl.
I was thinking of all of this when I got home from school that day. I hear a knock on the door, popping my thought. I get up and open the door to see Xavier. I gave him a confused look and he just scratched the back of his neck. "C-can I t-talk to y-you for a s-second," he said as the confusion on my face grew. I could tell he was super nervous but about what, I had no clue. I nodded then silently lead him inside and we sat on the couch. He looked into my eyes for what felt like an eternity. I starred back for a moment before a started to wave my hand in front of his face. He randomly crossed his eyes and it made me laugh.
"So, what is it that you wanted to talk to me about," I asked. He blushes slightly and said,"Well... I-I um wanted to know... If you would... like-to-go-to-prom-with-me."
His words came out of his mouth so fast I could barely make out what he was saying. But when I did, I looked down to hide the fact that I was blushing. I didn't think anyone would ask me. Instead of answering, I looked up at him and punched his arm. He obviously saw that I was blushing and gave a stupid grin. I giggled slightly at the face then we both got up from the couch.

What happened next I would never forget.

I guess I didn't notice how close the coffee table was to the couch. I tripped but before I reached the ground, Xavier caught me by my hands.
"A-Are you ok," he asked shyly. I nodded but put my head down again. I just could not stop blushing when I'm with him. His warm hand gently lifted my chin. He looked into my eyes once more before he kissed me.
There was a period of joyful silence after that. He waved goodbye as he left. I looked out the window to see him skipping cheerfully and saying the word 'yes' over and over again which made me laugh.
You're such a weirdo, I think to myself. And with what just happened scorched into my brain, I get ready to go to sleep.
